I have been visiting this location since the 50s. Great place to visit. Did you happen to stop in San Diego on your tour? There is a great model railroad museum in Balboa Park. At 28,000 square feet, the museum is the world's largest operating model railroad museum. This unique museum contains four enormous scale and model layouts, built by separate clubs, which depict railroads of the Southwest in O, HO, and N scales.

*Travel Town has some neat hardware.* The restored Magnetic Flagman on its overhead arm needs its power looked at - a relay would control the two electromagnets in the motor to swing the armature with the dual-Fresnel tungsten on one end and the gong strikers on the other. The Union Switch wigwag uses an alternator in its relay cabinet to flash the Fresnels on the gate as well as the PARs on the pale.

Did you see Steamer #1000? That engine is one of four surviving steam engines from my hometown, Santa Maria, CA. Three of those four are in restoration, 1000 isn't being restored but 100, 205(closest to completion), and 21(only one ever built new for the shortline).

100 unfortunately isn't being restored, yet, she is stored up in Merrill
@Meengineer1008 жыл бұрын
Looks good. It would be nice if they could restore one of those locos to running order.
@sovietunion36786 жыл бұрын

are you allowed to go in side sum of the locos and train cars?
@DeathValleyLumberCompany7 жыл бұрын
you were a while back and you could probably still get away with it but they roped off the cabs due to some liability issue....
@sovietunion36786 жыл бұрын
Yes some of them depending on the condition of the cab if it was safe or not and same goes for the passenger cars too

Do they use Superliners in Florida?
@EdwardRingwald8 жыл бұрын
Only on the Auto Train - Amtrak's Silver Service does not use Superliners due to the low tunnel clearances in New York City going under the Hudson River.

Isn't the museum where UP replaced the Big Boy with a Centennial Locomotive? They took the big boy back to Cheyenne for rebuild. Nice video thanks. Is their going to a fight episode with Stupid Orange and your daughter's stuffed cat?
@Millenniumforce8 жыл бұрын
