Not just Rockwood, EVERY RV manufacturer should be watching this video. I had purchased a new Coachmen trailer in 2013 and ended up doing many repairs on my own at my expense due to poor workmanship. It is impractical and inconvenient to bring it back to the dealer for warranty work because it takes 3 weeks to get an appointment and they hang onto your unit for two weeks or more to get authorization from the manufacturer to undertake the repairs. At one time, they waited two weeks before they inspected it and another week waiting for parts from the manufacturer before the work actually being done for a minor repair.

Late to reply. We dont’ even have this brand or model think rock wood is in forest river family. Downsized from a fifth wheel to Cherokee wolf pup. The thing they did too cheap or dumb things like blocking ends of cabinets with plywood. Is just dumb not money. From your mouth to all manufactures ears!

Regarding the bumper mount: I have seen them fail. It's not the strength of the welds or mounts. What happens is as you travel the weight of the item mounted will oscillate continuously and eventually fatigues the metal around the welds on the bumper, your first indicator is the people following you on the road will start honking and pointing as they pass you going down the road.

Outstanding video. We have a Rockwood Mini-Lite 2304KS, a little smaller than yours, but we winter in it, going from Michigan to Florida in January staying 8 to 10 weeks then returning to Michigan in April. You have some awesome ideas particularly in your use of the grill and table outdoors. In 8 weeks this winter, we never once cooked indoors, so your outdoor kitchen ideas are awesome.

Good stuff, Michael! Too bad that there are like 10+ ads on this...PITA! Ha- I had done many of these mods! Nice work on these! I HATE these "sealed underbellies" on the new Rockwoods. Can't check anything! Tempted to take the damned belly cover off. I replaced my "Lionshead" tires with new Goodyear Marathons. Next size larger: 215 /14. They fit nicely and give me more weight capacity margin. I carried two large bikes on a bumper-mounted carrier coast to coast- no problems. Nice job on those plywood stabilizer blocks!! Crack woodworker! I installed a clean-out elbow with a plug on my gray tank ABS drain pipe. Remove the plug and I can snake in a garden hose and flush out the muck.

Bravo❤👍 the mod I did on our door, was put velcro over the top of the entry door so that I could hang a curtain. Our tt is small so to change clothes, get out of wet/bath,etc, it is nice to have a curtain to hang up, even if we sleep with just the screen door at night- with door open for the breeze. Thx for an excellent video...may have to watch it a 2nd time with hubby joining me!!! Oh, and one thing I do want to do is make some mud flaps for the trailer so that our septic drainage system doesnt get dirty.

Wow what is that flat grill BBQ? Love the little BBQ too! We usually boon dock so have real fires but really like that. Ive just been watching all the modifications videos and see so much. Willing to fix our little wolf pup as some things are great in it. Basics great. They need women on their design team! Definitely showing the jack issue. I hate when it rocks with him getting up at 5am to fish! Our old fifth wheel the step kept unfolding as we drove. One time we dragged it accidentally on a curb. Now I see the ones that fold inside of trailer and touch the ground when out. Could be a partial stabilizer too. Maybe a better idea to switch out. Our awning got wrenched too...winds so planning to take off. We bought an easy up anyway as we dont sit always next to trailer because of stream camping. They always put the fire pit and tables away from trailer pad.

Agree, I’m the woman part of the team and really frusated at some dumb things done or not done to our little trailer. We had a very upgraded custom nice fifth wheel my partner of 7 years bought used a few years before I met him. It was too heavy although his truck could handle it but we go up 8,000 feet to stream fish and dry camp. Everything stopped working on it. Slide out broke twice and drafty if you slept there. I started calling it the steel tent. Heater not working. Air only so so if in a hotter place. We had to buy additional portable air conditioner. Mattress literally cardboard. No solar. So we downsized to a wolf pup. Its good. Solid contained floor. We had roof rats infest the fifth wheel and happy when another driver shoved us into a tree and totaled it! The value bought us the small wolf pup bunk version. We only lost the weight and walking floor space. Counter even bigger than fifth wheel but I’m taking a long way to say I love the people doing these videos. Sharing their experience. So valuable. Oh just read he has 50 more videos. Will be looking!

I’m always a year late to videos but you have great ideas. I’m already making a list. I need these safety pin hooks for other things. Lost 2 of the hair pin ones on my hand dolly that converts to truck? The other way, flat for plants etc. Thanks for the video. Will look at your other videos. Someone had convince my partner to get a tool type generator. Totally loud and we boon dock. We both injured ourselves to point he had to have back surgery from that dumb thing lifting it in and out? Finally got a honda. Totally quiet and works in an instant but we bought a solar panel for our tiny wolf pup. The fifth wheel I mentied in other comment below in a reply became a tin tent. We think that the 2 batteries, one kept discharging the other. They recommended small solar panel with our new wolf pup 17 foot trailer but we saw the larger one on sale online for what the tiny one would be but it was not a “kit” perse. Still hooked on the same. Just the panel. Off hand I dont know wattage but like 5x the need. It charges our single battery from dead, in the pine trees with dappled shade. I kid you not. We only need the generator to charge phones or run microwave. So my partner made aluminum cross bars on it and put rubber feet so it cant sit flat on roof. We throw on top of trailer when we get to campsite. I modified the box it came in, cutting holes for feet and gluing on Velcro straps. We keep in that when traveling. We do need a small aluminum ladder, found tiny one but tall enough, but we have a truck with teneau cover so no one can steal the solar panel or ladder. It was nice to get rid of fifth wheel hitch in back of truck. Couldn’t haul anything! The concept is nice but my partners life changed meeting me, when his wife passed and now we both retired. She never went camping with him. Only his brothers. We also bought a jeep, so may look for a teardrop in the small versions but are actually modern. Saw a Tab. They make one with jeep type chassis and wheels too. We actually retired to the town we camp and fished from. Ha. Now its 5 mins away! I’m type and watching. Definitely going to have him watch this video too. I should do one on our life. We are really DIY people. Just have to learn that. I used to be techy back you know ....when.

Upvoted for "Trading Places" DVD. :) It amazes me regarding some of the stoopid things RV designers do. You'd swear that the people who build these things never actually use them. The squishy bumpers on the sharp edges of the bedside cabinets... Very smart. The pool noodle holding down the microwave plate: Genius. The extra shelves adding storage in all of those wasted spaces is very important when you live full time in one of these. Nicely done.

Thank you. We like the Murphy bed since it helps utilize the room more efficiently given the space. We find that we often just leave the bed down while camping unless we have company, a lot of our time is spent outdoors during the day. We really like this trailer a lot and have not had any major issues with it. If I had more space in our driveway we would have bought a trailer with a bed that was down all the time that also has two recliners :) . The trailer is light weight (around 4,800 lbs empty) so it is easy to pull with our 2016 F150 Larriet with EcoBoost and is 26 feet long from the bumper to the front hitch so we're able to camp at a lot of places where longer trailers than this can't camp. I hope you are subscribed, I recently made a modification to my batteries that I will be sharing later today.

@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and sorry for the shaky camera work. I cut strips of wood to go inside the cabinet to attached to the sides to fill the gap which brought it out far enough so the drawer would slide in and out without hitting the sides of the cabinet face front. How I attached them to the sides .....I used Gorilla Glue Adhesive www.homedepot.com/p/Gorilla-9oz-Heavy-Duty-Construction-Adhesive-8010003/206063265 and on the ends of the strips I was able to screw in small screws through the thin paneling inside the cabinet into the 1"X 1" nail strips that the trailer manufacturer buts in all the corners, if you look inside the cabinet really close you will see the staples where they nailed into these 1" X 1" strips. You could get by with just using the adhesive the just tape the strips into place and let them dry for 24 hrs and avoid using screws if you like, the adhesive is very strong. After the strips where in place I took my measurements to build and install the drawers. I hope I was able to answer your question :)

Hi Mike, Chuck & Connie in Missouri. We also enjoyed your video. Lots of good tips and ideas. We are taking notes for things we would like to do to our 2504s. What brand/model TV did you end up using? Was it marketed as a 30"? We have been looking at 32" models and have wondered if they will fit. Also, what mount did you use on it? As you probably know, finding a second mount for a TV to match the arm/mount on the trailer is almost impossible. We haven't contacted Forest River, but might try your idea instead (keeping the Furrion 24" to use outside). We also switched to Good Year Endurance tires recently after reading a few bad experiences others have had with the factory supplied tires. Thanks for posting your Modifications & pointers video. Hi Chuck, thank you. Its a 32" Samsung smart TV that we bought at Best Buy. I used the mount that came with the 24" TV. In order to install the TV to slide it on the bracket I had to remove the speaker above it and the put the TV on the swing bracket and then reinstall the speaker. I tried to find a new mount that installs on the back of the 24 inch TV so I could use it outside but could not find one :( so I made a custom set up that works. I'll take pictures to share with you of what I did soon.

Did your trailer come with castle rock tires? How long did they last?
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy 5 жыл бұрын
Hello James, yes they came with Caste Rock Tires. I had around 2,500 miles on them and checked the air pressure and inspected them every morning before heading out and inspected them at gas stations while driving also. I was inspecting them at a gas station in the middle of a trip and noticed a bubble around 8" long X 2" wide near the outside of the tread (I think I only had the new trailer for around 6 months or less). We called the tire company when we got home (we had the contact information in our trailer packet) they had us send pictures and sent us a new tire within 3 days we received it + $30 for the tire change costs. Since we like to travel long distances I didn't want to take any chances and replaced the 4 tires with Goodyear Endurance Tires and left the spare alone. I sold the 4 tires on Craig's List for $25 each to someone that wanted them for a landscape trailer. A lot of people say the tire is not the problem and its the people that don't put air in them but I don't believe that is the case all the time. When the tires were changed out I put them side by side with the new ones and what a difference in quality. I could stand the castle rock tire up on end and push the tire on the tread and the sides would bow out big time and the side walls were so thin. The Good Year Tires did not flex. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to tell you what happened with mine. I hope this helps. Mike

NUNYA BUSINESS I think it was Walmart a long time ago, we've had it a long time. Try taking measurements of the grill area and searching the internet. I hope you find one

@@camposvazquez I got you :) I should be coming out with something in the future to discuss all that. Fortunately I give all my ideas a lot of thought before doing them so I get it right the first time. This was one of my first video on KZbin and my camera work is nuts, I'm all over the place with my camera movements but I must say a lot is covered and people seem to like it a lot. My later videos are much better and are more detailed as you will see if you watch them. I'm trying to put updates in the videos in the description area for people to read. Here's a link to my videos if you have not seen them all already - kzbin.info/door/adr-Oi9dyjK41DOefVL27wvideos?view_as=subscriber (Thank you for your suggestion I will do this someday)

Do you dry camp and run solar or a generator? How many batteries do you have? P.S. my wife is hooked on your mods now. More work for me.
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. We do dry camp and also do full hook ups. I used to run the generator all the time to charge the batteries but now with the solar I only need to run the generator for the microwave & coffee pot, I'm currently working on adding a inverter to run the microwave and coffee pot without using a generator and the video should be posted in a few weeks. @thetraveltrailerguy

Thank you, I've probably only added around 300 lbs max with all my improvements so far. the dry weight of the trailer was around 4,900 lbs and now it has 300 +/- lbs added :) . Have you watched my other videos?

Is your new mattress a regular queen size?
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy 4 жыл бұрын
It's a short queen bed and mattress. The basic difference between queen and short queen beds are just 5 inches in length. A standard queen bed is 60 x 80. A short queen bed is 60 x 75. The most common use for a short queen mattress is within an RV or trailer home. Here a couple more videos of our bed - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXWToZybm7CXZrs kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJexaWp6hL93i9k Thanks for watching :)

@@thetraveltrailerguy Where did you buy your mattress?
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy 4 жыл бұрын
@@rickyknoch669 I bought it through Amazon and a couple months later it was discontinued for some reason (this happens a lot with mattresses) what model trailer do you have? On some Facebook sites I've read that some people have been buying the mattresses in the links and liking it but as you know mattresses are a personal preference for each individual. I suggest you do a lot of searching on line and read all the reviews carefully. We got lucky with the one we got and I wish they still sold it, we like it much more than any mattress we have ever had in our home. The one in our trailer is a 10 inch thick mattress. www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Camper-Trailer-Mattress/dp/B00Q7EVAXO?th=1 or this one - www.amazon.com/dp/B01BW7H5ZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WyglEbM9Z779T?fbclid=IwAR0yYW908PG05lOl-vtWS6WDYu-fvWE6agHPxoLoOzeOx7dDNCtmoNFDnPc
