Same …I left 14 years ago. …born in aba koran near Merkato in Addis ….crazy hw so many things changed …I will say for worse …back then addis has small population and, things weren’t crowded like these …less cars,almost few skyscrapers and less people …anyway I still miss it

Entoto Park is one of the recent designated parks for visitors by the current prime minister & facilities are privately owned. Historically, the mountain top is where Emperor Menilik's 1st palace was located when he founded the new capital city , Addis about 100 years ago. It's around the corner. All these eucalyptus trees were planted by him (brought from Australia). The neighborhood right below the hill was occupied by the emperor's noblemen in the early years. His 2nd place moved to the city center later.

Actually, Addis is constantly expanding its boarders into oromo territory and taking away farmland. This has caused many issues for the Oromo people.

Too many Addis residents lost their historical neighborhoods, which they lived in for 2 to 3 generations to expand roads, infrastructures, and all these new buildings you see. I happen to be one of them!! Megengna used to be almost the end of Addis, now almost the main city center. We lost our neighborhoods, the only land I belong to as I am a 3rd generation!! All are affected as any urban development. Fyi, most were empty lands... still is in the outskirts. near

@Monohassan Yes, they're given other alternatives. But hate to hear only certain groups are affected by it. I believe the issue you are talking about the master plan to expand the city further. I would say they should've created a new city for the government seats as other growing population do. But in today's political system, all the unutilized empty lands have ethnic 🙄 lines which is the MAJOR ISSUE!!
