To everyone saying "wow Cuba is amazing", let me explain something. Cuba IS absolutely beautiful, I won't deny that. But that's the problem. Cubans lives out of tourists. If you've ever been there you know how waiters or any worker tries to make you feel amazing to convince you to tip them. The place is a dream, but the life for Cubans is not. So please, don't be fooled, because what you see is not really what it is.

So I am actually from Cuba! And it brings tears to my eyes to be able to see my country because I haven't been back for years myself. My dad just recently went to go see my family and I just wanted to let you know that although Cuba is beautiful, they treat tourists so well because its such a huge part of the economy! However, I encourage that if you go, support as many local businesses as you can. As well as you are being treated, the people who actually live there are suffering, specially in La Havana. The government is still oppressive towards the people, and I feel like that's not going to change in a matter of minutes, but I urge you to give your money to the people of Cuba, not to these huge establishments because they only benefit the government, who doesn't give to the people. I am telling you this from second hand. I lived there for over a third of my life, and my family still currently lives there. The poverty is immense and people struggle every day to survive. It is a GORGEOUS place full of culture and music, but take time to learn why it is the way it is. ALSO!!! Next time visit Veradero Beach! Its one of the most gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean. Also! the province of Santiago de Cuba!
@kholawaddy-jones32427 жыл бұрын
Just got back for Cuba. Everything you said is true! I was mainly in La Habana (Havana) too. One HUGE extra tip- if you're not having drinks at the hotels, make sure the cafe/restaurant uses filtered water for their ice cubes/salad greens & veggies are washed in filtered water. Trust me on this one! Ask the waitress to be sure. Cuba is beautiful! The people were the best part!

Cafe bon bon is espresso with some milk and condensed milk 😋 I'm first and second generation Cuban and have always wanted to go see Cuba for myself but being cuban and living in America, the laws make it difficult. It's such a shame that cuba is such a beautiful country with such rich culture but the government power is what makes it so poor. A doctor makes the same wage as a garbage man. Every family gets rations of food every week depending on the family size (and its never enough) 3 eggs a week 1 can of milk for a family of 4. But I'm really glad you enjoyed it and saw the beauty of Cuba and it's culture. You really did a great job showing it's beauty through the camera! Thank you for the beautiful glimpse 💕 CUBA LIBRE 🇨🇺
@synnefia55098 жыл бұрын
JeanineElizabeth you can't blame Cuba's government for the fact that Cuba is poor. Cuba is poor cause USA's embargo. It's very difficult to be the only socialist country in the world. sorry for my English I'm Greek. And let me inform you that we suffer too because Usa Germany and these capitalist emperors.
@xojeaninexo8 жыл бұрын
Castro's revolution in Cuba began before the US embargo with Cuba began. The US stopped diplomatic relations with Cuba because Cuba was making trades with the soviet union which was not an ally of the United States and JFK deemed the Soviet Union dangerous and a threat. The government and Fidel's revolution is part of the problem.

Anyone who is planning on traveling to Cuba and are coming from America; don't forget to exchange your US dollars to Euros or Canadian Dollars before exchanging to CUC in Cuba. US Dollars to CUC is a 13% currency exchange fee. It's greatly recommended exchanging from Euros or Canadian dollars, the fee is 2%-3%. Happy travels~

Wow! This was like a video postcard! Stunning! I visited Cuba a long time ago but I really enjoyed it as well. The people are very friendly and the cars are so cool. I didn't enjoy the food (lacked seasoning) although I stayed at a hotel.
@justineleconte8 жыл бұрын
Great video, beautiful. I just wish people who go there would also mention the "other side" of the country: no freedom of speech, total control of the press, houses/roads/cars collapsing because nothing is being done since the Castro's took power. You might miss on all that if you don't speak Spanish but if you do, it becomes obvious that the people are far from being OK but just can't afford to emigrate... Very sad.
@carolinaelichalt79138 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was just about to comment that. I got a very bittersweet feeling seeing this.
@carolinaelichalt79138 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's so sad to see anyone who goes there say they're fascinated how much Cubans and Cuba 'look and act like they're from a different time era' ... but they don't actually research why :( makes me sad, but at least I really appreciate the fact that Tess didn't stayed at a 5 star all inclusive hotel.

- Hello to the courageous person commenting with no name & no picture, very brave of you. I have been to Cuba, I speak Spanish & I know people who live there. I discussed that with them and I actually follow the news - unlike you repeating arguments that you heard but never bothered to check. Last but not least, please watch your language & remain polite. Good day.
@justineleconte8 жыл бұрын
- you are mixing up everything. And clearly subject to pro-Castro propaganda. Before you judge, you should check both sides of the story, the truth is probably in between. Which is my country that put Castro in that situation, in your opinion? Such sentences discredit everything else you say. Fact though: Castro has been unable to reach even agricultural self-sufficiency (in a country where the weather allows for up to 3 crops per year) & went from being dependant on the UDSSR to being dependant on Venezuela - both clearly unstable regions. Cuba is doing great? The government is counting 1 peso = 1 CUC when measuring the butto inland product per person (when 1 peso is in fact one 23rd of a CUC), to try to hide their failure. 3 newspapers, all writing the exact same thing everyday. Criminality too high so they just don't measure it - problem solved. But how could the Cubans compare the news & access outside information/opinions when they barely have any access to internet (and to ALL internet) & have no independent source available? Very sad situation...
