The thing about that old building in front of skyscraper is that it is one of the vitness of II World war. It is the relic of old intense downtown, full of such tenement houses, but there is nothing left nowdays. It was jewish district , during war turned into ghetto. After war there was problem with the ovnership etc. Right now some people try to save this building like a heritage monument , some people are waiting when it will collapse in 100% and they will could built something there :P have a good time here in warszawa :)

It is empty last 20 years because of ovnership problem, with 20 people in diffrent countries who claim that they are children of previous owners:P Warsaw is mixture of such views and the reason of this state is quite sad history of the city

FYLUBO I hope they get this ownership problem worked out soon, and they can make the building look good again. I think part of the problem is because Poland was controlled by the socialist after WW 2, and it messed up the economy. Now Warsaw is rebuilding older buildings and constructing new buildings to make it look nice again, it will take time, 85% of the city was destroyed from the war, and Warsaw used to be the Paris of the east. I hope they rebuild the Saxon Palace and Bruhl Palace soon, it will make the city more beautiful again, and all the new office buildings (Varso Tower, Warsaw Hub, Spinnaker, Mennica Legacy Tower) will help as well when finished.

This is the home of Father Skorupka, the hero of defense of Warsaw in 1920. This part of Wola was typically a working class, and there were tenement houses there. This part, it wasn't a Jewish quarter

There's many decaying buildings in the city centre because the owners are unknown since ww2. In many cases investors refurbished and invested millions of euros and suddenly a Jew from America came claiming the property. So not many people want to invest in those buildings. And sadly it's pretty common in many polish cities
