Great video! I am not Polish but I am very happy to call Krakow home. Two remarks regarding the places you visited: Krakus Mound is lovely but there are actually four mounds in different sides of the city! I find the Piłsudski and Kościuszki Mounds even more impressive. Secondly, bar mleczny are great but the one you went to on Grodzka has become touristy and expensive. Prices at similar bars outside of the old down are 30-50% lower which is amazing considering even the one on Grodzka is not crazy expensive. I would additionally recommend Podgórze area for cute architecture, Zakrzówek artificial lake, Stary Kleparz as well as other markets, and perhaps the old building of Jagiellonian University.

Krakow has to one of the most amazing cities I’ve been too.. Totally underrated And 2,5€-3€ for 0.5l of fantastic beer
@blase7772 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's underrated. It's one of the biggest tourist attraction in Central/Eastern Europe. there are other (hidden) gems in Poland also, I recommend to visit the cities of Wrocław, Gdańsk or Poznań - they are as much fun as Kraków. Warsaw is also a great place, but it's got totally different, radically modern vibe.
@Goorood2 жыл бұрын
3 Euros for 0.5 of beer ?! Here in US you can buy a glass bottle of pretty much any european beer from 1 to 2 dollars tops. That includes shipping across ocean and markups of local stores. What a bunch of crooks sell 0.5 l for 3 (!!!) euros ?! LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
@stein90732 жыл бұрын
@@Goorood Oh there is cheap beer in Poland lol. But it's so strong only the biggest alcoholic cheapskates buy it 😂 Prices of alcohol in poland start at around 0,5€ for 0,5l. The og comment was probably about beer in pubs/restaurants/clubs etc. Mind You, there are ways to sneak a whole bottle of vodka into a pub, but people usually don't do that cause not only is it inappropriate, but You can also be asked to leave the place if they find You with alcohol not bought from the bar. That's why most people throw house parties or how Pols call it "domówki". The alcohol in Poland is so cheap (10€ for 1,5l of vodka for example, beer starting at 0,5€, wines start at around 2-3€ for 1l and many many more) that it's cheaper to go do a house party than to go to a bar. Most people don't want to do parties in their homes as we do go a little too hard with drinking usually 😅 So we go to bars and pay atrocious money for small beer ://

Heck, even my hotel had this absolutely beautiful garden cafe, where I paid LESS than 1 Euro for a beer. That was only 4 years ago. My favourite place to visit, is the salt mines. Probably I've been there when you were in Krakow ;) And I was using your films, knowledge and actually your guide :) I am so glad you liked the overall experience in my birth city. Kudos for finding the Metrum on the top of the Music Academy, an amazing place with food as good as the view :) You probably didn't choose the cheapest or the best money-to-value bar mleczny, but those places probably has the most authentic Polish food there is. In terms of Bar mleczny I strongly advise choosing those in Nowa Huta District. Also apart from bars, Nowa Huta is one of the most amazing places in Krakow. Was build for the workers of huge iron works now it's one of the greenest places to live in Krakow. Also, I am so happy that you have visited Podgórze - the place I grew up in which is getting more attractive for tourists every day now. About zapiekanki - I've tested most of them and wrote a text a few years back. Most of the windows are tourist traps selling heated frozen ..., but there are some good windows on Plac Nowy where you can get fresh and delicious zapiekanka, the most famous polish street food :) Hope you will come back someday to see even more of Krakow :)

I'm also from Kraków and can back you in terms of Nowa Huta - a rather less known part of the city, a great piece of socialist architecture and more recent part of the history. I have just got back from my first visit to Krakow and was hoping to find a similar Honest Guide to Krakow before I went for some hidden gems. I found a few, but will need to go back and try some of these! Honest Guide on tour is great!

I was wondering when will I see Poland on your channel... Thanks for taking part in promoting Poland! Although Kraków is already the most touristic city in here.

You mentioned a museum above Sukiennice, but there is also a musem BELOW it (yes, underground). And it's a great museum, definitely worth seeing.

The museum above Sukiennice is a beautiful, recently refurbished, Gallery with a superb display of Polish Art. You'll also find an adjoining terrace cafe: highly recommended.

I've only been to Poland once, but I would love to go back. Krakow was my favorite of the three cities visited. Your video provides even more reasons to return. I would have liked to try a bar mleczny (milk or dairy bar). I believe these inexpensive and informal restaurants were important during the communist era, and still are popular today. (I would like to visit Prague some day as well!) Thanks.
