OMG - I can’t believe you have yet another problem!!! This is not fair - you don’t deserve this. Can’t believe you are still smiling - you guys have the best attitude. I can imagine how you felt as we had a fly problem in the finished part of our basement. Once we removed the covers and killed all the ones inside our problem was resolved but it was awful to deal with so I feel for you. Hopefully the problem is now resolved. Loved the Spam museum! I have eaten that forever as a kid (I am 70 now) we often had it for dinner as it was cheap. My grandkids actually like it when it is made in fried rice. Thanks for the memories. I reckon you’ve got a dead mouse somewhere. They’ve laid eggs on carcass. Then they’ll hatch into flies. You can either wait for them to eat the carcass and then eventually there will be nothing left for the magggots or take your van to pieces and remove the carcass. I’ve had this problem when a pigeon fell down my chimney. There were thousands of flies but we waited until the carcass had been eaten and meanwhile taped up the room and didn’t use it. We got a cover for the chimney and have not had a problem since. I’m very wary of using insecticides because of alarming impact on long term health .

cluster flies. They sense the change in season, and they cluster together in a void spaces where they can survive the winter. We live on a cattle farm, and they are miserable. We have fly swappers in every room. Keep spraying eventually you will get them out. We have to spray our house at least twice every summer, just so we can get our sanity back. Our old farm house you could hear the buzzing in the walls, and void spaces. Our new build house has spray foam insulation and it stops them, from getting in the walls. They just come in through the door as the kids run in and out of our house.

Then you mix about a 1/4 cup of brown sugar and a little vinegar together and pour it over top and bake it until it is hot. While baking it, I make sure to keep spooning the brown sugar mixture over it. When hot, remove the cloves (do not eat them) and slice using the brown sugar and vinegar mixture over it. Kapo Choc available in England , made in France, cluster fly bombs, most effective. Two tipes, the one we used , the traditional worked wonders, it's a little tin , you open it, light it and leave your dwelling for at least two days, strongly toxic. It reached everywhere there is air, very powerful, the newer type is a little more expensive but probably fantastically efficient, it travels through the humidity in the air, and reached absolutely evrywhere. We have had the problem not in a van but in a 500m2 castle, cluster flies are seasonal, 4 or 5 generations per year, the last generation in October November searches for warm places to hibernate. They can come in through very small openings searching for warmth. The larve are in earth worms in the grass. Only certain areas of the USA and Europe are affected. My advice . Be prepared by keeping cluster fly bombs ready. Do not store your van in an area of the USA known to have cluster flies. Keep your van cold whenever possible. Octoctober through January stay away from parts of USA know to have cluster fly problems. Most USA is cluster fly free. Thanks for sharing.

Been to the Porkies many times and the flys were so bad the rangers had fly traps with sticky tape to collect them. Went on a walk along lake shore and my nephew and son’s t-shirt were covered on the backs of shirts. They also had flys like the size of small hummingbirds it was crazy, but thankfully they flew around at dusk. Beautiful area though!

Wow, those flies really looked like it -bugged- you. Regardless, this was a great vid and sure to create some -buzz-. Also the two of you seem like you can handle a lot on the -fly-. (I'm SO sorry, my dad joke urge was too strong.)

Are you sure the mouse had left and not died??
@dejahwilson2682 жыл бұрын
And that would be a reason for all the flies 😬
@TravelBeans2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, thats what we thought at first but there was no smell. We actually find out at the end of the video the type of fly and why it wasn't the mouse.

Apparently the flies became so bad the mouse couldn't take it anymore and abandoned ship. ;-) Hopefully you've considered washing and cleaning surfaces, towels, bedding, etc. after spraying everything. You wouldn't be the first to not think of it but better late than never.

we live in New Zealand and our new house has a small sleepout where we store things. One Autumn day I noticed loads of flies in the window, so went in.....Aaaarrrggghhhhh! yep, cluster flies. We got a battery operated fly spray and they were gone in a few days. The clean up was disgusting. I feel your pain.....

Used to live next to a cattle ranch. Flies were terrible. We used to hang up those sticky fly strips and they worked great.

Sounds like the mouse is still in the van but has died & the maggots have hatched hence the fly invasion
@Clairearm2 жыл бұрын
Yep !! That’s what I’ve said……….flys hatch from maggots

We occasionally fry Span crisp as an alternative to bacon, or sausage with eggs in the morning.

Go to a Tractor Supply Store and buy the sticky traps for flys. Have them hanging every where and you should catch a bunch.

They’re hibernating so they usually nest in tiny gaps and lie dormant for winter, they will squeeze into anything! They’re a nightmare.. had issues similar in an old house we had to change all the windows

We had this happen in a brand new house! We learned it was a special kind of fly that reproduced really quickly. As soon as they land they lay and egg! We had to fumigate! And it worked!

Hi, i came across your comment on this channel section and I liked how intelligent you are and decided to ask if you’re interested in making wages (money) via passive income from gold or the stock market

In the Eastern panhandlers of WV, its stink bug infestations. October is the worst time, cause that's when the corn comes off and the stink bugs come to your house. If you open your door to go outside, they rain down upon you like something from a horror show.

I had cluster flies in my old farmhouse. Used to come home to windowsills black with them. Not much to do but vacuum and wait. Bombing helps but I hate the chemicals.

Hi Guys , we had the same problem last year , we were over run by these fly’s in our motor home and living on a farm at one point we thought a mouse or a rat or even worse one of the farm cats had got into the van and died. We were at braking point until we Googled our problem and found out they were cluster fly’s and as you did we went through Three cans of fly spray and endless hoovering and cleaning and sterilisation to rid them once and for all and fingers cross they didn’t return this year . ( happy travels )

Flies and other insects are attracted to light colors and especially white. You leave a light on at night and you have many insects flying around it outside. During the day white reflects the sun light and it attracts them. Then when you open your door they come in and stay by the droves. My sons house is out in the country and he gets so many in his house and it is white also. My ex wife’s house is like 200 ft away but it is red brick and she don’t have much trouble with flies.

So neat to hear that you were in Milwaukee. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, and assuming you came south on I-43, you were within a mile of my house at one point. Welcome to southeastern Wisconsin!

Totally agree re the mouse or other. That many flys unless there is a big local outbreak has come from something dead, you will have maggots in there somewhere feeding on something. They will eventually consume whatever it is but it could be anywhere. Could be a dead animal on the bottom of your van for example. You’ve got something somewhere that the maggots are feeding on and then fledging in your van.

We had an infestation of stink bugs in our truck camper. We stopped in St. Louis last October to see the arch and stayed at the casino campground across the river. The weather was beautiful but then the stink bugs came. They were all over our camper. Hundreds of them! They found every nook and cranny they could get into. We battled those little bastards for the rest of our trip. We found out that they don’t like heat very much so we used a hair dryer everywhere we could get it into to. We got back to New York about a month later killing stink bugs the entire trip.

Please consider this. One slice of Spam well fried in skillet. One slice of wheat toast buttered and halfed. One egg over easy. All stacked and runny ! Delicious !!
