I see a lot of channels use storms and weather as clickbait. Maybe a little rain or snow but not a blizzard or horrid storm they say in the titles. Yours was not clickbait! What a storm! Huge blizzard! Kudos! Loved the video. Thanks

You’re so right. Recently, I saw a video where a guy claimed that he was camping out in temperatures of -45. It’s not that I’m calling that other guy a liar … it’s just that the lake that he was next to wasn’t even frozen over, there was no snow nor hoar frost on the ground, or on any of the trees … They must think that their viewers are absolutely stupid and believe anything that they say. But yeah, I’ve seen this guy tackle some epic blizzards … he’s never exaggerated about the weather to get clicks, it’s always been the real deal as far as storms go.

Oh! One last suggestion. I attach a bright neon color flag to my antenna so it can be seen when snow gets dumped on the van. Makes it easier to find my way back in a storm. Ive glued strips of reflective tape to the flag so it remains stiff AND makes super easy to find said flag/truck with a flashlight, even in darkest and worst storms

So when we say" wear a florescent vest, clear the tailpipe, bring a second pair of socks, pack the carbon monoxide detector, and fall in love." Smile and say, " Good points, I'll do that" As mothers, we get to pull the mother card-anytime we want. Going through labor, we've earned that ;) nuff said.

Those atmospheric rivers the past two winters in the Sierra and Cascades have dumped a bonkers amount of snow. Really enjoyed this video of yours.

One of the reasons people outfit vehicles like this is to “stealth camp” in parking lots and such. Places where a van might not be out of place parking overnight, but someone camping there might draw the ire of local law enforcement or property owners. A brightly coloured vehicle draws the eyes in that situation, which is exactly what you want to avoid.

Suggestion for dry floors. Get one of those mats thats thick rubber and made of open cells, like bee hive. Keep at front wheres door. Immidietly after it, lay down an old towel, folded. Have on hand 3 or 4 towels, and rotate as wet ones dry. Ive used this method for offroading in snow or mud or both and it helps grab all the snow that falls from my boots and jacket and pants/shell. A smaller towel is great to use as a "smacker" and i smack the back of my pants and jackets (and arse if feeling naughty!) To dust off all the snow clinging to me. I keep the towels in a small old milk crate which allows any water to leak out and out the van/truck. I dont have any meaningful suggestions because its obvious you're aware on some level what can be dangerous and you are having extreme fun. Good for you! Keep it up and try to remain safe:)

I was born in mass and then lived in Texas for 45 years. If you keep letting that snow inside that beautiful van it’s going to ruin it. I moved back north to New Hampshire five years ago and at 66 I’m the one that does the majority of shoveling deep snow. I hate to see you pushing up against the plastic on the doors because they will break. It’s best you shovel what you can each time you use the restroom. It was smart bringing chains with you. I drove from Texas to NH during the winter in my Honda pilot with my two small dogs and three year old. It was snowing and cold. I stayed at the red roof inn so my dogs and I got warm and took showers. I kept a small shovel and brushes for snow. At night stopped and got dinner and we went and ate and slept nice and warm. I love how you did the bed great ideas. I’ve been using a little of everyone’s ideas.

Ok so what I’m about to say, take it as motherly - like concern for your safety rather than just a troll being critical . I’m posting this in hopes that you take my advice!!Another video, another life - risking venture. Look, your videos are really entertaining but every time I shake my head at your choices. It’s risky enough just going out into a huge storm like this- you could be stranded , have vehicle failure, etc. There’s all that and then you take MORE risk by making poor decisions like going out on these treks with only a camera into horrible harsh conditions. Like at minimum pack a backpack with some water and basic survival items. One fall and an injury that leaves you unable to get back to the van will be deadly VERY QUICKLY. You often state you don’t have cell service. Please at least carry a GPS device with the ability to use satellite to call for help, like I see responsible hikers use. I’m just saying , you need to do more preparations to keep safe because Mother Nature is brutal! I always j think about my son, who I think is about your age, when I watch these videos and I about how worried your mom must get knowing you are out in these dangerous storms. So please 🙏🏻 just take more precautions and be more prepared!!!

They do this for views. Nothing will change their minds until something drastic does. Most people camp in normal weather, not blizzards.

I think you should remember that everything you see on camera isn't the full story. This person is next to a road, near access to emergency services. They may also have survival training and lots of experience in winter survival, you don't know their background before KZbin. I don't think you should be so quick to judge.

@@toma6002, I HAVE JUST SEEN THIS VIDEO & I WAS THINKING OH GREAT, ANOTHER BOOK SMART DUMMY ,LOL BUT THEN I SEEN THAT he IS A VAN DWELLER AND SAID OK, he WILL BE OK FOR A FEW DAYS IF THAT WAS NECESSARY ! SOME PEOPLE CAN BE BOOK SMART ALL DAY LONG BUT NO COMMON SENSE AT ALL ! THAT & IT DOESN'T SNOW LIKE THAT EVERYWHERE EITHERS

Your comment was very nice, respectful & coming from a good place. I did not hear judgment at all! It was clearly a concerned mom and fan who cares. I am sorry a few people took what you were trying to say and twisted it so they could jump on and lecture you. He doesn't need protection or anyone else speaking for you so they feel validated. ❤

Love the sense of adventure! Something that we have to do here in great lakes/michigan winters is during heavy snowstorms, plan on going out every few hours to clear the snow where you need to clear it in order to keep it from building up to beyond clearing. Totally normal to hear shovels and snowblowers at 2am from people clearing their driveways and sidewalks. I was getting nervous for you seeing your drivers door getting blocked in and almost impossible to open. Please keep your exits cleaned as much as possible, even if you need to get out there for a few minutes at 2am :)

The Donner party (horse-drawn covered wagons) got entombed by snow in Dec.1846. The first night they got 6 ft. of snow. The 2nd night they got 4 ft. with multiple storms following. The survivors were rescued in February 1847. Its estimated that 15 to 20 feet of snow fell during that period. Just wrap your head around that!

Love it, thanks well prepared I did similar between 1995 and near 2003, with just Car (Touring) for Weekend Days when Austria or Swiss was hit by snowfall. Much easier food, gas cook for emergency, but food for a week, and all tools to get the car moving (snowchain and 100 kg gravel/sand as shovel) and myself warm and busy. Even just with a tent and double sleeping back at -25 over one new year event. That teaches me respect over the power of weather and how former generations had to deal with it.
