Watching your videos I'm amazed. As 8to11 year old us air force brat in 1959-1961 living near Johnson afb we road our bikes to a devastated buildings and old dirt road villages to what Japan is like. One place we lived off base woke up to a classic Mt fugi view every morning

Stumbled upon your channel today: thank you KZbin algorithm :) I absolutely love everything about it! It's calm and relaxing. Your sub titles are informative and witty: I feel like I'm traveling along with you. I went to Japan in 2018 for a month and totally fell in love with the country and the people. I was shocked by Tokyo: compared to other crowded cities like Paris or London it was so calm yet very busy, didn't konw this could be possible! Everything is so well organized, folks are polite and respectful. Hopefully I can go back next year and discover another part of Japan. In the mean time I'll gain inspiration and vicarious joy from your videos :) Thank you!

Yes, we have 'Service Areas' in the UK. Strange name when you think about! I think these areas often had workshops to repair cars when they frist opened, as cars weren't so reliable in the 1960s! A surprisingly scenic journey. The restroom might have been cramped and smelly, but its nice to have one!
@travelgeekphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tim for teaching me that! I once heard some british guy said "Service Area" in a driving video so I was thinking it's come from UK and didn't know you actually have 'Service Areas' also in your country. I got smarter haha I think we have a lot in common let's say like railway culture, left-hand traffic, and we drink "tea"

I never really thought about it until after watching this video, but darn.... Building japan's road systems must have been a complete nightmare of a task.
Yes we have services on the motorways in the UK. Although they are not called service areas they are just called services with the local area's name in front. So for an example the services in Warwick is called Warwick services and that happens right throughout the UK.

Great trip. Yes another bus trip again. Surprisingly, the bus is legendary Mitsubishi Aero King, I don't know this bus is still in production or not, but looks like when I watched another Japan Bus Trip Reports, mostly Double Decker Bus in Japan are using imported Chassis like Scania. The route looks amazing, but the coastal one still better. In my country, Service Area is called Rest Area, mostly available at Highway or Expressway, but sometimes on Non Highway Road, there is Service Area like Restaurant with huge parking area, or Huge Gas Stations located at Non Highway Road.
@natahn95682 жыл бұрын
Yea you're right, fuso now only produces Aero Queen/Ace for highway buses, which are single decks (the one with luggage space below). And the buses at 14:48 and 19:38 are scania chassis
Even with some personal space the bus looks kind of painful for so long. I think it's the speed. Having said that I went from NYC to LA on the Greyhound bus and loved it. Slept like a baby, lost my wallet and had to walk 16km to get money wired to me. It was an adventure. On the plus side your bus ride had some tasty looking snacks at the rest stops. I am jealous of that!

Mealtime with you in your travels is probably the best feature ever!! You are teaching me so many Japanese ways…Don’t get it twisted: I love everything you do and say in your videos but you’ve got the cuisine section mastered! My nickname for you is… Travel Sensei…there isn’t anything GEEK about you, Sensei Hey, that sounds twice as nice…that’s 🔥 Two requests, please: 1.) do a summary of foods/snacks you ate on some videos, (if it’s not too much to ask), And, 2.) Please plan trip to Okunojima, reserve a room as well. You will need to take plenty of 🐇❔🐰food especially if you do stay one or two nights I would like this IMMENSELY and perhaps others would, too❗️ We all love you and wish you well

That does look one of the highest quality buses I've seen. Usually they're nearly all very cramped, but even the standard seats 💺 in that look high quality. Seems to be remarkably squeak and rattle free too. Lavatory 🚾 is as cramped and poky as ever though.

0:46 Is that drumming from a street busker? Your microphone is very good to have picked that up. 10:24 That person jumping up and down in the background must have been sitting for a long time and is getting circulation to his legs. 13:08 They are probably a motorcycle club out for a Sunday ride. They remind me of bosuzoku gangs I used to read about in Manga. It's too bad we didn't get to see Mt. Fuji, but seeing the Aichi countryside was just as nice. Thank you for the fun video and stay safe!

IF I ever am lucky enough to make it to Japan I don't think I'd ride the bus because you've set the bar too high for the ferries and trains lol. I would most defiantly plan for a lot of trains and ferries while in Japan and lots of noodles because it seems to be what you eat the most and every bowl looks so ono.
