Overlanding Travel in the Namib Desert and the south of Namibia
In Part 2 of our All Desert Epic (#ADE), we have MORE car trouble. So, even more seriously NOT a "short and easy" overlanding trip. But the views sure are incredible. Nothing like the Namib Desert to help you appreciate the enormity of our world! Compared to giant rolling dunes and mountains, what's a bit of car trouble anyway?
Late to get going to our next destination in the NamibRand Private Reserve, we're certain to arrive after dark. The road there though puts all 4x4 trouble on the back burner for the duration of the drive. Spectacular! But we're faced with a very real problem when we realise the part we sourced is not exactly right for our old Land Cruiser. And that while we're very much in the middle of nowhere. As it arrived so late, and we had to get moving, and we had no time to get it installed, or to check whether it matched. Anyway, can't worry too much as next up, we're heading to a very special place for both of us - the first Namibian destination we visited during our first ever epic overlanding trip together: Sesriem, Deadvlei, and Sossusvlei.
One of the most otherworldly and incredible destinations we've ever encountered, and well worth a revisit. And this time, we got to stay longer and see much more. Some new things, some things still the same ... like a serious lack of ice in the very hot desert! Spectacular views from Dune 45, a stroll in the desert to visit the 900-year-old trees in Deadvlei. Even more of the area (like the Sesriem Canyon) in our next episode!
Let's continue on our travel through the south of Namibia.
Enjoy!

I have been waiting for this episode for a long time thank you for posting , one thing i admire about you is your resilience , your patience and your humbleness. I wish to have some of your attributes as well as your skills ,the best i can do in a car is maybe change a tyre 😂😂😂 keep up the good work and the authenticity and hope as well as encourangment that camping is not about having expensive cars and whatnots but having the basics thank you

Another great episode... I would know because since I last subscribed on viewing your part one of this Namib trip I've went back in time to view your previous adventures in anticipation of this part two episode... Taking the wrong passport on your past travels and only finding out at the border was 😂... just Yoh Yoh!!! I think you may include more roas scenery + your music to add 10min more to the episodes... Great stuff Apex Predator and Vrou

I really felt for you struggling with that fan as that is how I struggle when I work on a vehicle. I was however quite impressed that the last nut came off 😳, normally that never happens for me.

Yes that last nut is always the one that feels as if they built the entire car around it 😅

Love the Namibian landscape. Been there many times but can not get enough. You are keeping us on suspense about your breakdown. Hope it was nothing you could not fix or got you both stranded. You should invest in a 12v ice cube maker. One of the best gear we have. It can be heaven sent during the summer months. Looking forward to the next episode.

The ice make sounds like plan! Going to look that up. We can run it while driving or when there is grid power at a site. Glad you enjoyed the episode. Namibia is amazing 🇳🇦
