Anyhow, I stopped to see what your channel was about because the intro made my heart emotional. A year ago my friend passed away, and she was amazing, she was fun, sooo friendly, warm and welcoming, and she was just a beautiful soul. When I saw your intro I could see my friend to a tee. Your features are so similar, and your attitude is even more familiar. Interesting and helpful info on an uncomfortable subject. This is useful information for more than just camping vans. Tent campers and hikers will benefit from this…. Even on the job construction sites. I’ve been on many jobs/exteriors with no access to bathrooms or running water/electricity.

Very nice setup! I'm 63,been living in my van for over 7 years all over the country. I use a fabric softener bottle for my "liquid". I bought a "Final Touch" fabric softener bottle. It was the cheapest one I could find at Walmart. It holds over a gallon, and the pour spout can easily be popped out. I use denture tablets in it to get rid of any odors, and they sanitize the bottle. I just drilled a tiny hole on top of the lid, so it doesn't expand with any pressure. It works great, and it looks like I have a bottle of Fabric Softener in my van. As far as solids, I use a "Stansport" toilet, "but a bucket works too", with a bag, and use horse bedding pellets in it to absorb any liquid and I sprinkle some "Purex Crystals " in it. It really helps along with the horse bedding pellets to control odor. I cover my "deposit" with some more horse bedding pellets. I only put in the Purex Crystals in the beginning. You can get a 40 lb bag of horse bedding pellets at Tractor Supply for around $7. Every morning I pour out my fabric softener bottle in a field, etc, away from where anyone walks, and I tie up my potty bag, and toss it in the nearest garbage can. Just as long as you have something to soak up the liquids, it's not considered raw sewage. No different than throwing away cat litter or a diaper. It works great!!

Extremely important advice. I am an older lady, who will probably end up living in a van one day because my income is extremely limited. At the moment? I’m still living in my mobile home, but this won’t last forever. Having information like this will make my life easier I am clean I’m modest and I have worried how I will manage this part of my life when my living arrangement isn’t so convenient I can see this working because you do such a good job of explaining things I will have to rethink how i look at going to the bathroom. But once i get past that little hiccup. It’s easy peasy So wow, just thanks. I saw that set up at my Brother-in-law's camp for hunting season. Each person makes sure there's a plastic bag with newspaper under the toilet seat...then they have a bigger trash bag for disposal later. They near a water source for cleaning later...

Half soap and half water spray bottle, pure water spray bottle, and a 75%water 25% vinegar spray bottle. That's what i take with me for camping. It works very well.

I keep in my home a toilet system for when the plumbing goes awry. I think Lulu could use a nice toilet lid on that bucket. And after seeing all these van life videos, I always keep a pee jug and a shewee in my car for those times when I need to pee NOW! Pull over, use your pee jug, and don’t suffer waiting for a restroom. You go, girl!

I love my icecream bucket inside a footstool/ seat. I have a biodegradable leak proof bag with a scoop of cedar shavings. Disposable like a doggie bag. Cedar shavings absorb all odor. I call it my pretty potty. I tried your system years ago.. wasn't for me. Glad it works for you. Great video.

For those of us who use pellats, if you cover the pellats in water then next da0y stir it up it makes a coarse like sand texture and makes twice as much 👍👍easier to use too

Yes, the wet pine pellets convert to sawdust for cover material. I still put solid pine pellets in each corner of the garbage bag, then some in the bottom to soak up any liquid. I use a Luggable Loo because I have arthritic knees, but I've got a urinal for the times when a quick pee will do. I never thought to stand in the doorway, Lulu. Lulú, this is so cool. I'm a hiker and know about going to the bathroom outdoors. When I had bunion surgery (rt foot) couldn't drive and had my bathroom remodeled, I had no toilet for 9 days! Not planned. Too long to recount. I did have a toilet chair and used plastic bags. I then positioned a 5 gallon bucket outside my window and dropped them in there. The pee wee pads are a great idea!

I cut pool noodle to fit bucket circumference, cut a slit in noodle and put noodle directly on bucket. the front part of the bucket doesn't have pool noodle so i can reach in and wipe. It's great. Ty for such a great video!

I usually do solids in the same bag as the trash is in, only I choose a thicker plastic bag. The trash in the bag kind of "catches" the solids. Then I throw it all out in the garbage, the same as you do with dog poo. I have chosen a model of trash can that has got the toilet seat, just to sit a little bit more comfortable... And I will also recomend to have a toilet spray to get rid of the smell after doing number 2 in the van.

You can get pee pee pads for a fraction of the price if you buy them in the section where they have pads that go under sick or elderly people that are in bed etc. My friend showed me this, and instead of paying $15, I paid $4.

Great video, Lulu! I use a bucket with the pine pellets. I'm not full time, but the bucket is always set up and ready in my van. Use a dirty public toilet? Not me! I put a gamma lid on my bucket instead of a toilet seat. The screw lid makes sure there is no smell, no spill. After I tie and wrap and tie again just like Lulu, I put it in a Walmart bag and drop it in any public trash container. I also use a spray bottle of alcohol for my hands. I also use the bucket to carry firewood or haul stuff. But I might just get me a sheewee!

You know, Lulu, you're doing a beautiful thing here on your video that i hear the young people don't do now-- dance! My son tells me that in the bars and clubs, the people are just standing still and staring at each other. 😳 Can you believe it?! Very strange and sad. Where's the joy?
