Thank you so much for this. Very very helpful tips. I'm off to Central Asia travelling solo in March & I'm already thinking of heading back there in July with my children for their school summer holiday! Will take your advice, don't think too much, I'll just GO!

Hi peeps, here are a few things, that I forgot to mention: Always check the current situation in the countries, that you want to visit. Safety, Visa, Bordercrossings etc. Central Asia is not visited by too many people, which makes it so interesting and kinda untouched. Therefore it's also a little bit more difficult to travel. You'll definitely meet fellow travelers in Hostels etc. Also your accommodation can arrange transportations for you. If you want to do it yourself, ask your accommodation about the typical fares, so you know how much you should bargain for. Get a good guidebook and check caravanistan.com for information (Super helpful website!) Cities in Central Asia are often written in different ways. e.g Khorog, Xhrog, Chorugh ... don't get confused. I would appreciate it a lot, if you have some more tips or updates. Feel free to put them into a comment :) Greetings, Georg

Really nice video!! Consice and complete! Super Thanks! Do you think for women travelling solo with would be equaly safe and easy?
@georg7825 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I've met some women traveling solo through these countries, they didn't seem to have more or less problems than me, when I was solo traveling. Language can be a problem, everyone faces. Can't say too much about safety, but I think it should be alright. There're not too many travelers there, but once you meet some in the hostel eg. it's nice to form a group and travel together for a while. It also gets a bit cheaper as you can share the costs for cars etc.. Traveling in central Asia isn't that easy, but highly depends on the country/city you're visiting. In the end you'll always get to the your next destination or place to sleep. Once you'll stay in a hostel you'll be offered help to arrange your transportation to your next place.

I am wondering why it is so expensive 30euro per day. South east asia very nice place over night only 30 dollsrs per day all in. Does foreigner get ripped off? I know the local income not that high, and is about 500 USD hundred per month for locals. So 30euro is about 50USD per day. Not cheap for hostel stay. In thailand i can stay nice hotel

Thanks for that great video. I also want to go from Iran to Usbekistan via Turkmenistan next year, but as a German I don't need a visa for Usbekistan. Is it possible then to get the visa for Turkmenistan?
@georg7825 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. I actually needed a passport with a German passport. I did the whole visa thing for Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan via a visa agency. Getting a visa for Turkmenistan, as I've been told, is easier if you already have a visa for Iran and Uzbekistan. So they know that you're leaving their country again. But I've also met people, who got their visa for Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan. So i think, it could be possible, to get the visa in Iran. Are you sure you don't need a visa for Uzbekistan?
@klausrtmr5 жыл бұрын
@@georg782 since 15. January 2019 Germans don't need a visa anymore for Usbekistan, but you traveled 2018, so you couldn't go without. That information is at the websites of the German Federal foreign office (auswärtiges amt) and German embassy of Usbekistan, so it is definitely correct. Which visa agency did you use?

How much are the train prices in central asia? Also, are there pickpockets there?
@georg7825 жыл бұрын
I only took one train in Turkmenistan. It was pretty cheap, i think it was about 2€ for an overnight train. The trains in Uzbekistan are supposed to be cheap as well, probably a bit more expensive than the one in Turkmenistan. I personally didnt had any problems with pickpockets and I didn't hear about it from other travelers.

Hey did you go to the pamir highway alone? I'm traveling alone and I'm worried i cant find enough people to join me in the jeep! Do the tour guides natural match you up with other travellers? THanks:)
@georg7825 жыл бұрын
No I didn’t we where 6 or 7 people. We meet before in Uzbekistan, but also in Tajikistan in a guesthouse in khorog at the beginning of the highway. You’ll easily find people do join you. Maybe also ask around in Dushanbe.

Hey man.. im thinking of going to central asia after visiting Turkey.. I was thinking of visiting armenia and georgia as well.. I would totally go to Iran, but I am American ;(
@georg7826 жыл бұрын
Nice, you should definitely go there, its such an interesting place. Georgia and Armenia as well! Oh man, this sucks! But you could visit Azerbaijan after Armenia/Georgia, then take the ferry to Kazakhstan across the Caspian sea.

What destination in Central Asia was your absolute favorite? Which country? Which two places would you pick? Would you skip Turkmenistan next time?
@georg7826 жыл бұрын
I liked Tajikistan a lot, landscape-wise, but didn't see too much of it. Would definitely revisit it, also Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan was very impressive history-wise. Yeah difficult to say. I'm more into nature, so Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan sounds good. As I already went there and the visa is expensive for Turkmenistan I'd skip it.
