Another nice vlog. While I agree that artificial lighting can be overdone, the city wishes to promote a festive atmosphere and boost commerce, to draw in consumers. China is encouraging internal consumption to reduce reliance on exports. Understandable.

Rafa me parece fenomenal que tu trabajo te permita, o por su propia naturaleza, te brinde la posibilidad de ir visitando hoteles y aunque sea un poco de las ciudades donde están esos hoteles. Lo de las luces led es impresionante, ahora, todas las ciudades chinas, parecen de noche un cuento de hadas. Lucen muchísimo y quedan muy alegres. Cuando vuelves a algún país occidental después de haber pasado una temporada en China, todo te parece oscuro, sombrío y triste. Se está marcando un contraste cada vez más grande. Con una amiga les hemos atribuido a los chinos un lema que hemos inventado nosotras: "Si se puede adornar, por qué no lo vamos a adornar y, si se puede iluminar, por qué no lo vamos a iluminar"!!!

Did you should take a visit to 蓟县 and check out 独乐寺 and 盘山，独乐寺takes you half day and 盘山 takes you 1.5 days. A train ride from 北京东站 (unknown train station hidden in CBD but super hard to find) offers you possibilities of a one-day visit.

Btw the Xishuangbanna Main Monastery is rebuilt recently in 2009 (there are old relics in Xishuangbanna but I don't think you visited any of them), and the temple in Shenzhen also looks new (doesn't seem to be traditional Shenzhen style). However, this Dule temple is literally one thousand years old.
