Another great video Sam. I loved the open air museum tour and hearing Joyce speak. Btw 26 is such a perfect age to be .. you are living the life that every young man should live right here and now .. exploring the richness of the world. Bravo .. I take my hat off to your adventurous spirit. 🌹

Really interesting, thanks again. As a child I was read Anansi the spider and I've worked for (among others in that organization) the grandchild of Anton de Kom. I would say when you're young you don't realize enough what a great time it is...so enjoy.

I remember that green cross building. It used to be in the town where I grew up. When I was a young kid my mother had to take me there for vaccinations and general check-ups. At a certain time they took the building apart and rebuild it at the openluchtmuseum.

Wow, that's crazy! I kept hearing about how they took apart buildings and rebuilt them in the museum, but really cool to hear from someone that recognized one of the buildings.

Been to the Openlucht Museum so many times as a kid. And I'm very happy with the theme they have this year. And I was baptized in the church you showed. This was an awesome episode for me. A lot of nice memories from my young childhood came up. I saw my grandparents and my aunt and uncles house (that's why I was baptized in Arnhem, even tough I lived in Glanerbrug near Delden. Where also another uncle of me lived☺️)

The open air museum has a way to make you feel like how things have been, more than any other museum. And then you learned about Suriname, that was unexpected. Joyce seemed like a great storyteller. My kids used to love Anancy de spin. Short stories with great a great inside in human nature, African wisdom. The Anton de Kom story is impressive, there’s a movie about his live, you should see that one time. When you’re back in Amsterdam you can visit het Tropenmuseum to learn more. Very curious about your next adventures.

Interesting video man! The open air museum is great. You should definitely come back for the Burgers Zoo. Also nice during the colder days because they also have several indoor areas: a jungle, mangrove, and dessert.

Sam, these are fantastic! You are seriously good at this (I've told you before :) ). I love this type of stuff. We were there in June and by my wife's count we walked 125 miles! We went everywhere and it was a blast. You are hitting a lot of little gems that we need to see the next time. Keep them coming, pretty please. I am actually learning a little Dutch from your conversations.

Funny, I was born in Arnhem, grew up in Duiven and then my first student room was in the Jacob Cremerstraat in Arnhem. Next time you have to go to Burgers Zoo. But take a whole day, because it has an entire rainforest, a desert and an ocean you can walk underneath. It is huge! By the way, you should have gone to the Korenmarkt in Arnhem to experience the night life. Most people like it better than Nijmegen.

When you were on the bus,to het Openluchtmuseum, you were quite close to my neighbourhood(the busstop at Jacob Cremerstraat). It's called St.Marten, very cozy and relaxed, but also very popular to people who are looking for a new house/home. When you do such a video again, maybe you should visit people at their home.

I'd love to make a trip around the country. To me it feels pretty much like a weird mix of being at home and not at the same time.

There's a bit of a rivalry between Arnhem and the surprise city at the end. Better try to avoid these places when their football clubs meet up there for a match. I try not to give a spoiler here by saying this, but I guess most will watch the video first before reading comments. If you get the chance of visiting Arnhem again, you definitely should visit Royal Burgers' Zoo. That is the most impressive zoo in the country. Some have a subscription and visit it once a month or so. Former director Antoon van Hooff, deceased, was a beloved man on Dutch television. Making the zoo into what it became was not a j job for him, but a calling. Actually his grandfather gave it a good start. I have heard about Anton de Kom, but do not know a lot of details. I am going to read about him more. And, if I can find them, things written by him himself.

Watch the movie A Bridge too Far and you know :-). Slavery is not a thing to be proud of in our history. All people should be free to be who they are, no matter what. The world is just beautiful with all the different people. Leef en laat leven. It’s great to watch your experiences Sam!
