Could've sworn that someone else covered Hoshino Resorts in Aomori recently too! Great video

Really? Maybe, it’s a pretty popular hotel. Thank you!

Thank you! Yes, the hotel was great. It beat my expectations for sure!

Wow super nice but pretty pricey, but then again all you can eat ikura? I'll knock a hundred dollars off that bill lol. FYI - the audio when you speak is only coming out on the right side for reason. The background noise and music are fine. Just so you know.
@barrettish3 жыл бұрын
You noticed! Thanks for paying attention haha. Yes, I've been having issues with my mic and it's really annoying me! I probably ate more ikura than I should've since it's salty, but was really good. Definitely on the pricier side though.

You had wear a mask while being outside snowshoeing in a frozen forest? That's just really weird.
@barrettish3 жыл бұрын
Not really because there were others in the group. It was challenging though.

@@barrettish As long as you all stayed six feet apart there was no medical need for a mask. The virus has a hard tijme infecting anyone when they are out of doors, and an even harder time when it's cold. You're what, in your late 20's or early 30's? The probability of you getting the virus is very low. How old was the oldest one in your party? As long as they were under 50 and you could maintain your distance, which should be pretty easy in snowshoes, there was no medical reason to wear a mask. I'm not sure I could even snowshoe in a mask since you need all the oxygen you can get. At some point, we have to stop wearing masks just because we don't want to freak out the one person that thinks you need it. If we can't stop cooperating with things with no medical justification, we'll be wearing masks for the rest of our lives.
@barrettish3 жыл бұрын
There was no need to look for reasons to not cooperate. The virus is still around, Japan hadn’t started vaccinating but hospitals were nearing capacity, some others were likely in their 50s and 60s (based on appearance), we weren’t consistently spread apart, and the hotel required it. I wanted to have the experience of staying at the hotel and accepting their service as a customer, so I’ll follow their guidelines that were provided beforehand. The same went for the other guests and we all could enjoy the trip with no one making a fuss. It’s just easier and more enjoyable than finding other medical justifications to combat guidelines already based on medical justifications.

@@barrettish I understand the cultural imperative about wearing masks in Japan, something that started long before covid. I also understand about going along to get along. What bothers me me is trying to use non-existent science to explain what we're doing. If mask wearing to stop the spread of covid was based on science, we'd be wearing N95 masks, not just a piece of cloth across our face. From a public health perspective, we should be isolating the sick, not the healthy. What we're doing now simply won't work, and covid will spread throughout the population, just like seasonal flu does every year. We're just lucky this is a very low morbidity virus.

Thank you for this wonderful video. I hope to visit Aomori one day, so the information is useful. I would like to go walking along the Oirase Stream. Autumn would be beautiful. 😊 Talking about wearing masks, doctor friends tell us that during this Covid period, they have seen flu cases cut down by 40 pct, due to many people wearing masks.
