Today we took a Giant Ibis bus from Phnom Penh Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) Vietnam! It was a long and fun adventure and well worth the $250+ savings over flying. We talk about the whole process from boarding, rest stops, border crossing, and drop off.
Thank you for watching!

I spent 16 days in Vietnam (Saigon and Vung Tau) and Cambodia in February and March, and watched all your Cambodia videos. Looking forward to Vietnam now! BTW, I had the same experience and feeling about my passport when I made that trip. I watched the whole process on the way back, and the bus attendant takes all the passports in a little plastic bag, gets on a motorcycle and goes ahead to the border to start the process, while all the passengers are eating lunch a few kilometres before the border. Crazy to think how easily a bag full of passports could get lost or stolen.

It was definitely scary to not have our passports but we’re glad it worked out 😅

Wow, that was a very smooth border crossing, guys, with no hassle ! Giant Ibis is actually the best (and safest !) long distance bus company in Cambodia ! Yes, Vietnam is the best place to be a (Dong !) millionaire 🤣🤣 Enjoy Vietnam 🇻🇳

Good to see ya'll back. Vietnam is on my list. Them holding my passport would have me a hot mess lol. But they seem to have their process down especially since you got your passports back all stamped and ready to go.

My first trip to south east Asia from North America…..first thing I did was learn how to use the squat toilets with no toilet paper. You learn quickly. Go online to study it more first. Ha, ha, ha. I took Giant Ibis from Siem Reap, Cambodia …to Bangkok, Thailand. Fantastic bus service. I highly recommend Giant Ibis for anyone traveling in that part of the world. ✈️ 🌴 🌴 🌴 ☸️

The ATMs in Vietnam always seem to have a ridiculously low withdrawal limit (ie less than $100 !) 😢 You need to watch the fees they charge for withdrawals as well, which vary considerably from bank to bank 🤣

I would like to ask if there is a bus from Phnom Penh back to Ho Chi Minh? If I have applied for a multiple-visit visa for Vietnam online, will I still be charged for the visa? Because we are passing through a land border crossing, is it possible that the border customs/immigration officers are off duty? For example, if I arrive at night and cannot clear customs, I have to stay one night near the border and wait until the next morning before I can enter the country? ! Thanks!

thanks for the helpful video. do yo know please in Cambodia tourist visa extension if "expiry date: 2 August" does it mean 2 August (day 60 since enter) is still a full valid day to leave no issues?

Hi M & Y.......we are a couple and planning the same bus trip from PP to HCM. Your vlog was a boon. Thanks for all the information and tips. Couple of Qs. 1. which site did you book your tickets online ? 2. Do you have to intimate them for a hotel pick up or is it part of the ticket ? 3. Other than Ibis Giant are there any other buses equal good options available ?.........TIA.

Of course! We booked on the Giant Ibis website. When we were booking they had a list of partner hotels where they pick up and we happened to stay at one of them. The website just gave us a time to be ready! We heard Virak Buntham also runs that route but we were really happy with giant ibis. Hope that helps 😊 safe travels to you two!!
