I remember a Kibbutz trip into the Negev in the late 1970s to Ra's Muhammad. Oren, you forgot to mention the wonderous night sky and how brilliant the stars are from horizon to horizon. Coming from an urban area with light pollution, this was one of the most lasting impressions I had laying in the sleeping bags looking out into the cosmos and only imaging what our ancestors thought thousands of years ago.

Absolutely a fantastic video of one of the most beautiful places on earth: the Negev. And yes, with the absence of distractions of civilization one experiences the divine in a way that is almost tangible. Thank you for making this video. Sometimes you have to make a video that perhaps speaks to a smaller audience but it is enormously appreciated.

Great video, makes me want to pack my bag right away. I got almost lost near Crater Ramon once. Just left the car for a quick photo-walk to the rim at sunset and a little further and further. The way back looked so different since I did not pay attention to the way (there was no trail) while looking for a photo opportunity. Then darkness came, no phone signal, no water. That was scary - lesson learned - but I got the photo :-)

I am much more comfortable hiking in the Northern part of Israel (I lived for year in Afula many years ago) but this was beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing the landscape. I started watching your videos after seeing your documentary about living outside when you were at school, it was very good! (Some of my good friends live in Haifa, so I have seen the valley where you lived.) We usually do a lot of hiking when we visit, so we may need to add this to the list when we can finally visit again! Thank you for the beautiful video, even if it did make me homesick!

I like your videos but I wish you had left out the millions of years comment. I own a book which outlines over 30 dating methods which show that the earth is around 6000 years old and why the popular billions of years dating methods are full of false assumptions and disagree with each other by millions and billions of years. If they were accurate, their results should be within thousands of years or hundreds of years. If the earth was only a million years old, the magnetic gravitational pull, which decreases every year, would be too strong for life to exist 1 million years ago. At the current rate of silt deposits into the Gulf of Mexico from the Mississippi river, the gulf would be filled in completely in less than 1 million years. The Niagra Falls wore away it's cliff edge at a certain rate every year (before they took steps to stop the errosion), which shows the gorge length to have 4000 years of errosion, putting it back to the time of the flood. All the fossils we see today, in every country in the world, including sea shells on my Father in laws farm in Ohio and the same type of sea shells at an altitude of 10,000 ft and 13,000 ft in Bolivia, where I grew up, were formed as a result of the pressure of thousands of feet of water which happened during the world wide flood of Noah. As the fountains of the deep burst forth with their water according to God's timing, the voids left behind caused the plates of the earth to have major shifts, which, when they crashed to a halt, formed the Rocky Mountains, the Andean Mountains and the Himalayan mountains. This is why you find sea shell fossils at all these locations. God used natural forces together with His supernatural guidance to make the event happen while preserving Noah and his family on the ark, which has been discovered repeatedly on Mt Ararat over the last hundred years, with the most recent documentation being made by a Chinese science group, where they found and entered into 7 of the arks rooms. The video is on u-tube. But most convincing is the eye witness written testimony found in the Bible which gives precise dates. Adam lived long enough to meet Methuselah who lived long enough to know Noah for 600 years, who see son lived long enough after the flood to meet Abraham and Isaac, so word of mouth only passed through four generations up until that time, not to mention the fact that mankind has almost always had their language put into writing. Ignorant cave men was an anomaly and not the norm. Complicated string instruments were invented over a 1000 years before the flood. People may object by ignorant arguments such as the length of time needed for star light to reach the earth. First, light has never been measured one way, but only as an echo or as it is returned to earth after bouncing off an object, so we do not know it's initial speed. Secondly, if God can create stars in one day which are millions of light years apart, why can He not also make the light from these objects already within view of the earth, for which it was made for ... Plus with billions of stars out there, why do we not see new stars appearing each day or burning out each day. Speaking of stars,if the sun was a million years old, the earth would have burned up a million years ago, because it would have been too close from being too large. Also, if it was too big, the gravitational pull of the sun would prevent it's energy from escaping and reaching the earth and the earth would be pulled into the sun. Then there is chaos. Everything goes from order to disorder and never the other way around, unless it is pre-programmed self replicating life forms. All the programming of the life forms had to be done instantly at the same time. The blood vessels cannot function without blood or a pumping heart or without a brain or without a organized pathway or without a way to aquire energy or a way to expell energy. Everything has to be pre-programmed. A house cannot build itself, and we are billions of times more complex and interconnected than a house, even at the microbe level. Scientist who hold to long dating methods are mostly willfully ignorant, as no human can be that dumb, unless they willfully refuse to seriously think about it in a logical manner ... Often because of peer pressure or because they are uncomfortable with the idea of a creator God who matches the Bible who they might be accountible to.

Very interesting country there. Worth for a winter travel. But I think it is important to get a tour guide. Here we pay for a tour guide 70€ per hour, for 2 or 3 whole days this would be 3360 - 5040€. This means that we would need 10-20 people if we do not want to increase our travelling costs to much. At the end we only have the possibility to be in a bigger group and be able to do this hiking for some hours. This what the average tourist is able to do.

Great video. I like to see nature and hike and the only views we get of your area are from movies like Ben Hur and Lawrence of Arabia so it is nice to see your land in real time/boots on the ground. If you get the chance to visit Masada National Park and go to the top that would be very interesting. Just like Canada in the deep winter you really need to know how to survive and have proper clothing and food and emergency supplies when traveling. And no we don't have polar bears roaming around and eating us. LOL.

I like the geography. I would be interested to know about the gear you use guiding and hiking. I would also love a series on animals &/or plants of the Bible. As a young guy in church I used to gaze at hyraxes and jackals etc...in the back of my Bible during dull messages. Seeing a hoopoe was one of many highlights...though few Israelis I asked knew what I was inquiring about. I just heard that they found an amethyst with the balm of Gilead inscribed. My biggest disappointment in Israel was the pollution, especially at the Sea of Galilee. Keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for this video. When you mention names or businesses in Israel, is it possible edit in the name in text so we could see how its spelt? Makes it a whole lot easier to search for further information on the Internet. I'd love you to make more hiking videos - I really like the details you add that others don't. Could you possibly comment on access to the trails using public transport? I'm interested in Avdat National Park, Tel Arad National Park and the Zim Valley hike (they sound exceptionally beautiful places). But could I hop off the bus on the way to Mitzepah Ramon in the morning, hike any of these & find a bus late afternoon to a hostel?

If I were to visit, I would want to spend a month and see the country, not the city sights or the tourist sites. There is another explanation for the lay of the land: the Flood of Noah’s day about 4500 years ago. It makes sense of the fossils, the ice age, the geology, and so much more. :)

Oren: please don’t say combined age of almost 80 is old. I’m still dealing with the fact that the 80s isn’t 20 years ago. Leave us to our delusions. Seriously though, this is a great video. My kids are starting to approach taglit age and I hope they get to see more of Israel’s nature than I have.

Yes I agree, please Sheket already about ages, Mr. Oren, sir!.. (politely.) We just hiked in Timna, Zin and Western Negev, (for Darom Adom anemone season, so yafé meod ! ) and we have a combined age of 131 as a couple... Let's just remember Abba Avraham did a lot of hiking in Negev, & I can't even calculate his combined age with Ima Sarah! 🤷‍♀️😎😀
