When I was 15 years old, we were on a family vacation driving through the desert, a rain cloud came over and afterwards the amazing smell, I can still recall how wonderful it was 40 some years later 😀

Creosote! It's one of the highlights of living here. You can smell it sometimes before it rains as the scent travels from where the rain was. It really is a special smell, isn't it? 😊

Hi Robert, thank you for your visits to some of my favorite places, Sedona being one of them. I took a helicopter flight over the area and the Pink Jeep tour; they were so worth every $! 40:10 loved the gallery you walked by, bought items there a few years ago. I think that place is supposed to replicate the market outside of Guadalajara, Mexico. If I were wealthy, Sedona is a primo place to live (even with the endless traffic roundabouts)!. One of my top three "happy" places besides Mt. Dora, FL and the Oregon coast near Cannon Beach. I found that I could just sit in each of the places and absorb the beauty and sounds. Thank you.

You brought back good memories for me Robert :) My family and I are Australian and we visited Williams and the Grand Canyon in 2014 and being a Williams myself, I enjoy the town immensely ! Especially going for breakfast opposite the bar where you had hamburgers. We tucked into a big breakfast but then we saw the cake cabinet and I am a sucker for pumpkin and cherry pie :))) (not available in Australia) So I had both at 10.00am in the morning Yummo ! Then we headed up to the North side and stayed in the 100+ year old lodge , great atmosphere and a beaut restaurant ! But to see the Grand Canyon change colour all day was unbelievable ! The vastness of the Canyon is mind blowing !!!! This beautiful mysterious canyon change my life , I wanted to travel the world and see more ,which I have since that day ! Now in 2023 I hope to become a American Citizen and set up base in Texas yeehah !

I have been enjoying all your road trip videos. You are doing all the driving and hiking for me. I have taken all the AMTRAK routes west of St. Louis to see the West. My only family road trip to see the West was in 1994 with my wife and 3 kids that we did to see Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico with a 2 day stop n Las Vegas. Coming home though in Moriarity New Mexico a little east of Albuquerque the transmission of our brand new mini van went out. We did plenty of driving in very hot summer weather and with the mountain pull appears to be been too much given what we were told was a clogged radiator from the manufacturer or whatever. Had to drive a rental to get back to St. louis and a week later I flew to Albuquerque to drive home our repaired car with the tab all picked up by Chrylser, since the car was brand new. I sure enjoy all your videos.

@@CactusAtlas I totally forgot the mountains' sky resorts. I was on Mount Lemmon a few years ago on late May and it was in the 70s at the top. I sort of still got amazrf at the amount of snow Arizona gets compared to middle and southern Georgia, last time I saw snow down here was in 2018.

@@C-TOS Arizona is definitely a wacky place. I've been here just over 10 years (my husband almost 20) and it still boggles my mind when we drive north from Phoenix and see snow. We drove threw the Painted Mountains and the Petrified Forest, Winslow Arizona, some song about that place, and almost skied in Flagstaff. We stayed for a night at one of those lodges you filmed and got a T-Shirt at Hermits Rest. (Dang, been calling it Hermits Nest forever. You did not see the huge Ravens that sore there in the summer.) We hope to go back. It was the trip my wife got the RV idea. But this was, (queue song) Driving, driving, in my rental- SUV, where I want to be, when I have to be back in Florida by next week! LOL! Hey Robert, good to spend a little time on the road again this morning. The red rock country around Sedona is breathtaking, but oh, those crowds! I've been to Williams many times but never seen snow there--pretty neat. It's always cool to see the Grand Canyon, especially on a super clear day like you had. As far as the South Rim being the "better" one...well, the North Rim has Angels Window and Cape Royal, which are are my favorite spots on either rim. I bet you're petty excited about heading out to pick up MiniTini 3, eh? I'm looking forward to following along on your summer trip. Happy trails!

Very nice video! I went to that area years ago and one of my dreams is to hike across the Grand Canyon from the north rim to the south rim before I die. I have been to Sliding Rock State Park and it is better in the summer because you have a water slide in the rocks! Very cool! Just be careful because the wet rock is very slippery. We saw a young woman slip and fall. Thankfully, she was alright. I also hiked to the top of Humphrey's Peak. It took two tries in separate years but I made it!

Yes Sliding Rock is a Summer destination. There are also few other swimming holes in Sedona, you have to really look for them however as they are not listed on the trail map. I’ve been to Sedona many times and it’s gorgeous. And by the way, if you plan on hiking a lot, get a weekly pass for Sedona trails from any of the grocery stores. The javelinas can be dangerous when cornered so don’t ever get too close. They have razor sharp tusk which can hurt you really bad.

I plan on going back annually to Arizona…we entered Sedona from 89A on the north side going south, it was a breathtaking drive….we also hiked Boynton Canyon trail and had a blast…we were there well after dark- which I don’t recommend, but it made for some funny stories.
