Gin is made from Juniper berries!!! LOL! It's my understanding that at one time, that whole area was at the bottom of the sea millions of years ago, forming that landscape. Even in this video, there were some amazing WOW moments! I can't imagine it in real life!!! Thanks again for sharing these fantastic adventures with us! Giving so many people a taste of what can be experienced if they want to spend more time in those wonderful places!! What you're doing, as well, is a gift given to those who can't do these adventures.
@evilcam3 жыл бұрын
You got it. Most of the land Robert was driving through in this vid was deposited either in a massive inland sea, or on one of the beaches as it slowly dried up. There was an inland seaway through that area for most of North America's existence. It's only in the last 90 million years that it has been drier, with only the Great Salt lake being its final and ever smaller remnant. Geologists think that most of what Robert was driving through was laid out from 300 million years ago, to around 90 million years ago, with some dry eolian deposits occasionally in between.
@MHarenArt3 жыл бұрын
@@evilcam It's really fascinating isn't it? If one looks a bit more closely at the formations, it's easy to see that they were formed by water. Stunning terrain!!
@evilcam3 жыл бұрын
@Dra6onflye It's called geology. Where, through correlating numerous strata deposits seen al around a specific area to one another, checking chemical composition of said correlated strata to make sure they're at least chemically similar, and dating whatever isotopes (usually potassium) are available to get a generalized time frame for how long the minerals within the strata have been decaying, you can put together a scientifically vigorous estimation of how old rock formations are. Likewise, people who have been studying this for centuries, put together other methods of geological and chemical analysis, like known erosion and deposition patterns, magnetic data for extrapolating longitude via magnetic moment angles within minerals embedded int he rock, and even other things I don't want to go into, to check the above methods and see if they at least agree with one another within a margin of error. So, that's the answer. Do we know for a fact these massive, continent spanning geological rock formations worked exactly the above described way? No, but it's a VERY good system for trying to put the pieces of evidence we already have together, and checking them against numerous other techniques to see if they agree. Some of it is overtly obvious though, like sand stone and mudstone deposition, and limestone depositions with clear and obvious marine fossils all through them. You don't get those with a sea, so the task becomes when there was a sea there, and how deep was it when the minerals were deposited at the bottom of it. Provide me with a better argument, and refute the literal mountains of evidence making the current argument, suggesting that the rocks did not form this way, and we can talk. This 'it's all lies' argument, with no evidence or even a single cogent point backing it up, thing, ain't gonna do it.
@evilcam3 жыл бұрын
@Dra6onflye Except there are literal mountains of evidence. The strata, the known correlations with things you can easily identify like volcanic ash plus radioactive half-life dating. Sun exposure analysis, longitudinal magnetic moment angles. The list goes on. You should have probably said 'incontrovertible proof' as that is lacking, but evidence is the one thing that is not lacking at all. So..since you have not offered any actual counter arguments of evidence tot he contrary, at least as it applies to geology, Imma say you have not convinced me. I'm with you on the abject lies and uncertainty on some of that other stuff you mentioned though. The establishment media has not told one single, demonstrable proof since the Spanish American War. Political profiteering and graft and skim games rule our society and nation, instead of laws or common sense or any regular, normal people. The propaganda rot has deeply infiltrated event he sciences, as is proffered by all the 'BUT MUH GLOBAL CLIMATE CRISIS' malarky and nonsense. So I'm with you there, but we part ways when the harder sciences come into the picture, as those are harder to fake and BS.

Whenever I hit that tunnel at Red Canyon I always think of the Road Runner & Coyote cartoons. I remember seeing The Hogback for the first time--it blew my mind! If you make it back in the area you definitely need to make time for Calf Creek Falls, Hole In The Rock Road and the Burr Trail. Thanks for another great video. Happy Trails!

We took this trip in July and camped at Red Canyon! We stayed two weeks to hike the beautiful trails. We hiked early to avoid the hottest part of the day. Then to calf Creek campground for a week and hiked to calf Creek falls, an amazing sight in the dessert!!! We hiked the boulder mail trail to get a feel of what that trip was like. We hiked the Escalante River trail and saw ancient caches. We thought every corner we went around brought new sights. We stayed in the area about give weeks and still feel like we need to go back!! Thanks for the memories!!!

We just came back last week from our vacation in Utah and we did drive Scenic Highway 12, starting in Panguitch and ends in Torrey (UT-24), which I may say really lived up to its name...indeed scenic. It’s a must drive if you’re in Utah, so many scenic view points you can stop by like Red Canyon and also segue way to Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome State Park, Petrified Forest, historic town of Escalante, Grand Staircase Escalante, Dixie National Forest and Capitol Reef National Park. Our trip coincided with a winter storm so it was snowing which made it a winter wonderland. However, word of caution...always carry a pair of tire chains when traveling during winter cuz the weather changes abruptly on those high elevations which makes the road dangerous when it starts snowing. Believe me, we experienced it on this trip but I won’t get into the details. Overall, this trip was amazing.

Now it's on to SPECTACULAR Capital Reef and the Parks near Moab"s Canyonlands and Mesa Arch, SPECTACULAR Dead Horse Point and that awesome view high about the Colorado River, the SPECTACULAR Arches National Park, and the SPECTACULAR scenic byways known as highway 128, the upper Colorado scenic by way through that SPECTACULAR canyon alongside the Colorado River. Great video Robert. Really enjoyed it. 👍👍👍...Where are the PELICANS!

On a clear day, you can see all the way east to the La Sal Mountains on the border of Colorado, and Navajo Mountain to the south on the Arizona border. It's a shame the air was full of smoke, but I suppose that added to the unique "otherworldly" vibe of the area as you said in the video. I hope you can make it back one day. Be sure to stop by Kiva Koffehouse if you do!
