I am moving there in a few weeks and your video really helped give me insight into what its like there. I wish you had also covered some info on the orange orb phenomenon there that is so frequent -- seen coming in and out of Lake Erie there too .. would have added a little more mystery to the video but it was great regardless and want to try the cereal too! Thanks!

Erie has a very interesting history, crazy winter weather and indeed Presque Isle is its best feature with some of the most spectacular sunsets you will see anywhere in the world. It was a blessing to be born and raised there. Unfortunately, decades of poor decisions and mismanagement by the elected officials have prevented Erie from truly flourishing as a city and its population has been on the decline for nearly 60 years. Nevertheless, it was an honor to see it through your eyes!
@irishpenny19812 жыл бұрын

I know this dates me as a nostolgic dinosaur of sorts, but when i listen to Robert's travel narration it reminds me of the actor Carlos Montalban's definitive voice 65-70 years ago. Growing up in Hispano American communities of Southern California, Roberts accent reminds me of so many old timers i knew as a child back in the day, Some of the music Robert chooses for his vlogs reminds me of those carefree 1950's/60's television travelogues in black & white with a touch of old Vegas jazz mixed in with a contemporary twist. Very cool Robert, your an original, really enjoy your travels and colorful descriptive narration.

You miss North East, PA. Between Erie and Westfield. It is the Concord Grape Capital of the World! We probably have 15 Wineries, home of Welch's Juices and Jellies. Excellent restaurants and the most beautiful sunset in the World at Freeport Beach. Next time you travel this way I highly recommend stopping in our little town of 15,000.

Erie PA has free admission state park (all PA state parks are free entrance). Many wineries, boat excursion and rentals, bike rentals for pathways on Presque Isle, some history, lighthouses, a Tom Ridge Environmental Center, Frank’s in Fairview (old time small produce/flower shoppe, crafty type store 5 miles from park), and 16 miles South on I 79 you can pick blueberries at Hulings Blueberries. All along Lake Erie is probably like this.

i live in erie pa, i know mr schaeffer personally as he is good friends w my father. its too bad you didnt get to see a proper sunset here. they are some of the most beautiful you will see period. i knew you were from the south when you were calling ponds lakes lol. no offense on that but floridians think a puddle is a lake lol. i moved to melrose fl for 2 yrs and moved back. very interesting to see a visitors perspective on erie. there are definately other better places to eat in town for sure. if you make it back go to new york lunch on east ave for the greek dogs and burgers. nobody and i mean nobody beats them at all. there are a few good bbq places as well. im sure the sail boat didnt go to the lake as it was prob really choppy. erie is the smallest and the roughest of all the great lakes because its so shallow. i own a boat and go fishing quite frequently. the victorian princess is a dinner boat. its also too bad you didnt get to see the niagra. cool vid of my hometown and safe travels. i did the roof on the condos across from sara's restauraunt as well. ive grown up in erie and honestly i wouldnt change a thing. i love it here, the snow can get pretty crazy sometimes though. i go to that exact seneca station every 2 weeks to get cigs. i usually ride my harley up there which makes for a great ride on rt 5.

Being a bit under the weather this week gave me a chance to poke around the archives and find a few videos to inch my way through the days. Always great to discover another part of the country I am not that familiar with. Really enjoyed this. You can never go wrong featuring road side attractions, lighthouses or sailboats.. we had a sailboat in the family at one time, and I must say, there is nothing like being under the power of the wind as opposed to a motor. It’s an amazing experience, so glad you got to do that. Sometimes I wonder if you ever pinch yourself and question whether or not it’s all real and how you ever got here, looking back at how everything worked together to provide this most fortunate profession. In case you ever doubt, I can assure you it is most definitely real, and you have been blessed beyond measure to be able to provide people with such an enormous library of virtual travel. It really is the best of what’s out there. So thanks for that. And for making sick days everywhere, a little bit better.

Sunday morning? Time for coffee and the new Traveling Robert episode! Your first stop at Sara's made me hungry for a hot dog, but it's a little too early for that. The auto part sculpture garden reminds me of Patrick Amiot's fantastic art on display all along Florence Avenue in Sebastopol California--a must see if you ever make it back to the area. I really liked the drone shots going up and down the lighthouse,. It would be cool to do a series like that--maybe circling the lighthouse as you gain altitude--but I imagine drones aren't allowed at the majority of lighthouses. Until next time, happy trails! ps: how was the fish dip?
