Part 2 | How to move to Tanzania

After talking to two of my friends yesterday and telling them my plans of moving to Tanzania, i texted my friend and told him, that i know that i'm going to move to Tanzania, because i can feel it.! and then you post this video!! Thank you so much. I was going back and forth with myself about moving out there after i graduate. & now more then ever i def. know this is what i will be doing, and working towards! I have no idea why Tanzania is calling me, but come the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 i will be there. Thank you so much!!!

La-keeyatta I was born in Tanzania and came here when I was 9 yo. Have been in the U.S. for almost 20 yrs. I love Tanzania and haven't gone more than 3 yrs without visiting. But here's my advice. I'm sure your heart is in the right place and I feel you. No matter what country it is, please please please visit first and test it out. If you can, stay for a month at least and move around to get a feel of the country. Then come back to the U.S. and revisit the idea of moving again. Now I don't know if you've visited TZ before, but if you haven't I would suggest you visit first. Like what I tell some of my other friends who have considered moving abroad, always "shop" around. Traveling Sista is a great source but just because Tanzania is perfect for her does not necessarily mean that it will vibe with you. The best of luck to you and your journey.

Thank you so much for your words and advice. I truly appreciate it. I have been doing my research for sometime looking at Non-Profit organization i can join and job search. I def. plan to visit before i move of course. I will visit sometime after May for at least two weeks or more. before i decide to pack up and just leave. I know every country is different, but i spent 6 months in Ghana & loved it. the good, bad and ugly. So im def. looking forward to this journey.

Arusha sounds like the place for me and my family to repatriate to🤗🤗 we love nature,gardening, etc. we should be moving to Tanzania 🇹🇿 by the end of 2019. Trying to get out of Amerikkka before 2020

Lavender cream, or oil, is the perfect mosquito repellant. THAT STUFF, REALLY WORKS WEATHER IN ARKANSAS, OR AFRICA.

Vicks Vaporub. Keep the top off and some in the top near your bed and an open window. Rub where they would bite. They hate it! No perfumes please.

So I love traveling but I didn't know about those websites. While I was watching your video I saw some roundtrip flights to Dar from DC (where I live) for $700 and some change. I've NEVER spent that little money to go to Tanzania. So I wanna thank you for the websites you just provided.

Here's a good formula to use: If you're an introvert and love peace and quiet, scenery, and just a chill laid-back vibe, Spring weather year round (without the pollen), then Arusha is perfect for you. If you're an extrovert, love meeting new people, going out to party, getting lit all the time, hot weather, then Dar is perfect for you. Either way, at the end of the day, it's all about what city fits you the most. You will find introverts that prefer Dar and you'll find extroverts that prefer Arusha. But definitely visit both cities to get a feel of them.

I just use any shampoo and soap on my long and thick natural hair. I use Royal Crown and Sulfur 8 also. I am retired but I traveled the world on vacations from age 20 to 73. Acapulco and Singapore were my favorites Bring VicksVapoRub for mosquitoes. Alcohol soothes the bites. Thank you for all your information.

I am inspired by you fearlessness and experiencing life in your own way. Life is a risk anyway, anywhere, so why not. Being originally from Africa, I can tell you that mosquitoes are prevalent in urban areas where there are lot of standing water and garbage. The further away you move from the capital the cleaner the air and the environment and the less likelihood of mosquitoes. You being in Arusha is further away from the Capital and therefore less mosquitoes. Good luck.

+Trish Collier I do feel like there are quite a bit of mosquitos is arusha too, but they don’t mess with me as much anymore because I’ve gotten acclimated to the environment. Even when I’m back down in Dar they don’t come after me like they did at first. But thank you and I’m glad you are inspired by the videos I put out. 😊

Public transport could be challenging in Dar like you said, although I am born and raised there but I still find it challenging. However, if you use Bajajis (tuk-tuk) or Boda-boda (motorcycles) then you're good to go or even taxis if you have a budget for it.

Those mosquitos did me dirty in Zanzibar. I have crazy hyper pigmentation. Smh so I am definitely using my Shea butter 2x those mosquitos ain't no joke. 😩😩 lesson learn spray the feet too.

When I invited my friend to TZ for the first time, them mosquitos tore him up. There is something about that American blood that makes them mosquitos hip as soon as you leave the airport. lol. But on a lighter note, come prepared and I promise you'll be just fine.

Nope. There’s no way around it whatsoever. Especially if you’re not Black and don’t speak Kiswahili. I want to climb the mountain too but haven’t seen any trips for less than $400-$600USD.

Ha ok, sorry I did not watch part 1 where you made it clear. Great. I heard you mention a while ago, that you were from the DMV area. In case you come by Washington DC, I would like to meet you in person because I am very impressed by your experience. I think you should consider doing some speaking event while here to share your experience because you can inspire other African Americans who are thinking about trying something different and can afford to. You can raise some extra funds that way. You want to do something like that in Washington DC in case you by here, it will be a great thing.

My fave would PROBABLY BE ARUSHA MOSHI TANGA ZANZIBAR AND AT LAST DAR. Dar is too fast pace to crowded too polluted for my liking . I love activities and liveliness of people but also able to retrieve into my peaceful place .

I know what you mean. It’s a huge thing for me too. But if you’re in the local villages, you’re going to see what we here in America seem as animal cruelty. Just the overall treatment of animals is totally different. So I’d say stay in the tourist areas if you don’t want to see any animal cruelty. It’s just hard to avoid.

+Danielle Felix-Richardson I was born and raised in TZ for the first 9 yrs of my life. Also have been back several times in the past 5 years and I have never seen a snake (big or small) in any part of Tanzania. As long as you're in a city, that is not gonna be a worry for you.
