A couple of common house rules that are normally played, that would have affected this combat. 1. Jack of all Trades is usually considered to not apply for combat skills. 2. If a weapon has been received as a benefit, but the character doesn't have that skill, it is often ruled that they would have skill level 0 in that weapon.

Drawing a weapon is a -3 DM, so that might've saved AAron.

1st hit should all be applied against a single attribute

That was some really terrible shooting. I remember ranged combat in T as pretty deadly.
