Superb video of a number of soho streets late 50s ... very different (but very familiar) and yet still easy to pick out the shops / buildings - glad this was recorded in such detail. Good to see it was not the standard shots of London

I was just a baby of 4 months when this film was made, Born in this great City within the sound of the bow bells. But I don't think much of the place now, its not the old place any more, It may has well be Cairo !

The film 'North West Frontier' (0:26 & 5:46) played at The Odeon Leicester Square & The Odeon Marble Arch in the last 3 weeks of October 1959. The poster says it is 'Now Showing' at both Odeons.

Lambretta Fd truck in the background ? . I like these videos because most people wouldn't have known they were being filmed , it's not staged but a snapshot of everyday life . And lots of double / treble parking .

It has to be 1958 or 1959 - Pye's Golden Guinea record label on one of the billboards, started in June 1958

North West Frontier film was shown on advertising board , it was released in London October 1959.

It was 1959 onwards as the Ford Mk2 range entered their Loweline model, clearly seen here in many Consuls, Zephyrs and Zodiacs

Amazing to see how few pedestrians there were on the streets of Soho back then... vehicles appear to outnumber them by a high percentage!

Wow, great footage here of the late 50s, thank you, Wish i was around then, instead of todays aweful and wicked world, Just checking out the Mk2 Consuls/Zepthyrs and Zodiacs, plenty of them, such kool cars, had a few myself

I don't know why cameramen shot the view from the back of the vehicle. Not only is it much harder on the eye, you actually see less than with a camera mounted at the front.

I was approaching 7 years old then at the end of 1959. I was one of the last gentlemen born unfortunately. There are not many gentlemen left now.....treasure me while you can lady's and gentlemen. In the future it will just be people who wear their trousers half way down, and use four letter words........so sad, and vulgar.

@@ГанибетМуханов Yes your right, it is a bit depressive, the UK has gone down hill in the last 50 years.....and things, values etc, are not what they were. But a lot of people around the world still want to come and live here, and as you say it is one of the best countrys to live in. But unfortunately we have some of the worst politicians in the world who are the last word in incompetence. If you have a spare comb, can you post it to our prime minister, at: TO THE PM. 10, DOWNING STREET LONDON, ENGLAND UK. I,m sure he would appreciate a comb, he never seems to comb his hair. I don't think filming backwards works too well, it's off putting somehow, as a species we are programmed to view things as we move forward, this just feels wrong, me thinks!
