Travelling Home To MANILA For A PHILIPPINES CHRISTMAS (BecomingFilipino)

Time to travel home to the Philippines for Christmas!
I left Hawaii, and flew back to the big city to meet up with Therine and get ready for Christmas in the Philippines! In this video, you will just see a raw look at being in Manila during the holiday season. I go for a run in Manila bay, then end up travelling around the city trying to get "Christmas Errands" done. I will be heading to my girlfriend's hometown for Christmas this year.
As I type this though, I hear there is a typhoon tracking through Visayas and expected to make landfall on Christmas Eve. Hopefully it weakens and doesn't disrupt everyone's travels and lives this holiday.
Travelling around Manila as well this time of year is certainly "unique".

Merry christmas Kulas. You are really lucky to have Therine as a Filipina girlfriend. In genral Filipina girlfriends are pasosyal. Therine is not. She is ok with you giving her sorbetes from street vendors, no expensive gifts, no expensive restaurants, no expensive dates. Alot of foreigners are broke and become homeless in the Philippines because of pasosyal na girlfriend. It is sad but true. You are lucky Kulas. Merry christmas to you and Therine.

You produced another great video. You are right about Manila. Manila it can drain you really bad running to transportation, pollution, and crowds. But, the best things is you get to see different parts of the city. When I go there I always take the non tourist routes or sites. Go to the back streets and see the real life people. Eat with them and stay with them. I have even been to the outskirts of Tondo but, that was with my fiancees family.

Please do not make such negative general statements about Filipinas. Yes there are "gold diggers" or those that take advantage of foreigners, so they can provide for their families. I believe that the majority are selfless, loving people, who sacrifice their own needs, to provide for others; send siblings to school, support poor aging parents, etc. I personally know of many who married foreigners, are successful professionals in the USA, and have very happy & successful children. My personal opinion..."In the Philippines, you will find what you are looking for...good or bad". That is, if you are looking for a good wife that is a college graduate....do not go to a strip bar!

Kulas, "Kaunlaran" is Tagalog for "prosperity", so "Kapayapaan & Kaunlaran" is "Peace & Prosperity", the Pilipino version of "Peace on earth...and a prosperous new year", for the holiday season. I am happy for you that you are back in the Philippines. I've always known (wisdom that seniors have) that someday your heart will be torn between your love for the Philippines and your native Canada & family. But I also know that you will handle it well. Whenever I’m in Pinas, I try to give food to street people. It’s sad. Now that I think of it, I hope we have a place where they could spend the night, every night. If I win lotto, I will build or buy a building for homeless people 😁 🙏🏻
