The 1828 Treaty of Turkmenchay indefinitely consolidated Russian control ( *Russia ruled by imperial Czars back in days -- not soviets* ) over Dagestan and removed Persia from the military equation. But the Russian administration, however, disappointed and embittered the highlanders. The institution of heavy taxation, coupled with the expropriation of estates and the construction of fortresses (including Makhachkala), electrified highlanders into rising under the aegis of *the Muslim Imamate of Dagestan, led by Ghazi Mohammed (1828-32), Gamzat-bek (1832-34) and Shamil (1834-59). This Caucasian War raged until 1864* . Dagestan and Chechnya profited from *the Russo-Turkish War* (1877-78), to rise together against imperial Russia. Chechnya rose again at various times throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries.

BRO..had you ask these people from Hunza....dagestan....if what it means?...why do they call it Hunza?...The Hunza in pakistan it means the place of Hunzukuze/ people speaking huzai...brushaski....a person Nawaz Khan Naji from another valley use to say that Hunzaies/ people of Hunza here in pakistan have come from Caucasus region/ so long time ago...i guess the word Hunza has got semantic changes in pakistan....though he is himself is not Hunzaies....he is a plotical figure of Punial region...very nationalist....and has great command on history of the people in gilgit-baltistan....dont know if why people call it Hunza

You are not good at gathering information sorry - What was the name of "Imaam" - in 1828 the Dagestan leader name was *GHAZI MUHAMMAD* not Haji --- *bro its time of Google you should know how to search and gather close information* ? instead of projecting face on camera one should better bring those locals when ask them questions and then you translate them on camera.
