I had such a great time at Gran Muthu Imperial, and it was a much needed getaway! I have been hesitant to do all-inclusive resort vacations before but I totally understand why people love it now. 🙌

Thank you so much for watching and the comment! This just made my day! 😊 I hope you have as much a great time as I did at Gran Muthu Imperial. If you're looking to go outside the resort, I have videos on the excursions, beach and restaurants that I did as well.

@Travelling Foodie I actually watched a few of your videos this morning. My wife is afraid of leaving the resort so I am trying to calm her down. I would love to try the lobster house. $30 for lobster is unbelievable. I laughed at your comment about smoking for the first time, how was it? Thanks again for the impressive videos.
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
If your wife is afraid to leave the resort, I suggest doing excursions instead so it's guided (e.g. with a bus, tour guide and with lots of people) compared to the lobster shack and Playa Pilar where you arrange to go on your own. I would say I felt very safe in those two places. Cayo Guillermo is pretty much a tourist island so it is made to be as safe as possible for tourists. LOL I was on a mission to try Cuban cigar since I know it's a big part of the culture! Plus, I know you don't inhale cigar unlike a cigarette. I actually enjoyed my first time and the taste was nice since I enjoy smokey flavours e.g. like smoked cocktails/meats. I appreciate you watching my videos and glad you found them useful and informative! Hope you can convince your wife to go outside because, honestly, the resort food gets very repetitive after a while. When are you heading to Gran Muthu Imperial?
@Jason-zl7ek Жыл бұрын
thanks for the pointers, we haven't been anywhere in 7 years. we fly out of Toronto Monday night. It's definitely a last-minute booking
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! You can definitely decide once at the resort. Everything I did was actually decided when I was at the resort because I booked a week before LOL Just a heads up to do the Welcome Meeting because that's how you will know when/how to book excursions with the rep and airport transfer procedures on your departure day. Enjoy your first trip after 7 years!

What was the currency they you used? USD CAD Cuban peso???
@TravellingFoodie12 күн бұрын
Gran Muthu Imperia takes both CAD and USD, but prefer USD. There's really no need for Cuban peso unless you really do very local stuff. I have a guide for Cuba trip planning here: travellingfoodie.net/cuba-all-inclusive-things-to-know/

@@TravellingFoodie was it really that rocky as you mentioned in the video? I'm wondering how was cayo Guillermo's beach compares to Mexico or varadero. Thanks and nice vlog btw. I will also try to read your blog.
@TravellingFoodie9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Rocky is subjective. That's why I have that underwater clip in the video so you can decide if it's rocky for you. It was rocky to me. Maybe I didn't walk far enough in the water. The beach at Gran Muthu Imperial shouldn't be used as basis for the rest of Cayo Guillermo (e.g. Playa Pilar is not like the Gran Muthu Imperial beach at all) as I'm sure different beach destinations within Mexico would not be the same. I haven't been to Varadero.

I have been in grand muthu cayo Guillermo not the imperial, I have kids, it turns out imperial show no more as only adults resort, have you seen some kite surfers on this imperial? It’s looks better than the other muthu.
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
Wow, I just checked Gran Muthu Imperial site and it says family is welcome starting Nov 2023. Interesting! I haven't seen kite surfers when I went but the weather when I went wasn't entirely good for kite surfing too.
@chamsedine1999 Жыл бұрын
@@TravellingFoodie yep i see in google map this imperial stay side to side to his mate. Do you know if you have free access to the other muthu facilities? Imperial infrastructure looks better, Imperial beach looks rookie is their a sandy beach side?
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
@@chamsedine1999 Imperial has a private beach and a public one. The public one shared by both cayo guillermo and imperial resorts are accessible to both and you can walk between resorts thru the beach. Though you technically aren't allowed to access facilities of the other resort, people do do it still. It's luck based too on who's there because the two resorts have different wristbands. So it's up to the security and staff if they'll let it go or not.

Being a "Foodie" how was the food?
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
I would say that the food is not the main reason you would go to this Cuba all-inclusive. But if you are looking for (or enjoy) Cuba all inclusive resort experience, food here is good enough to be content. I was content because of this, and it was honestly better than expected from what people kept telling me about Cuba resort food (which might have help me appreciate it more since I came with little to no expectations on the food) lol The food can get repetitive though if you're staying for at least 7 days, which is why I also did excursions and went out of the resort to eat. I did 2 excursions and went to off-resort seafood shacks 3 times (those were amazing). Vlogs available for those too.
@jjburns8762 Жыл бұрын
Pretty good video, however you did not tell us what dates you were there. This is VERY important. Perhaps you were there at Christmas which explains the nice variety of food. There are mixed reviews about the food.
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and the feedback! I was there in late November of last year. There was only 1 ala carte restaurant open (with rotating menus) when I went, but I was told there's normally 3-4 ala carte restaurants at peak seasons.

@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
Yes, there maybe seaweed at the beach. Is that a big deal? You can see what the food looks like in my videos both in and out of the resort. Food at resort is ok enough, but go with low expectations.

@@TravellingFoodie well..i guess we dont go to islands for food or drink
@TravellingFoodie Жыл бұрын
Food and drink outside the resort are good even if they are on the island. I have videos visiting lobster shacks on the beaches near our resort. Drinks at the resort (depending on what you drink) is pretty good too!

I guess that is why the Sunwing reviews only gave the beach a 2.1 rating.

@@doug7745 Playa Pilar Beach is near the resort. And there's also another beach on the next door resort also owned by Gran Muthu.
