Israel did use the area as a training ground. But to tell the truth, Syria itself bulldozed Quneitra to the state it is in now. I lived there for 16 months in 1991-1992 as a Peacekeeper.

@lisamarie37979 ай бұрын
I have read and studied countless reports, essay, analyses of the conflict. Israel took Golan to "teach Syria a lesson" and to control natural resources. They didn't care about the thousands of people they killed or displaced in the process, and they still don't care. Israel is evil.
@daverave78292 жыл бұрын
The claim that the South of Syria returned under control of the Syrian state 'in a largely peaceful manner' as part of reconciliation agreements is hilarious. The whole area has seen bitter fighting between different opposition groups and Syrian army, Iranian militias and Russian troups. I guess your tour guide did not inform you what for example happened in Dara'a only one year ago when the Syrian army besieged half of the city. He Mist likely did not talk about the indiscriminate shelling of the residential neighbourhoods to eradicate opposition groups, with a high civilian death toll and starving of civilian population as collateral damage. I guess he did also not inform you that Israel helped evacuate members of the voluntary civilian protection from the approaching Syrian army to save their lifes via Quneitra.
@travellingtheunknown2 жыл бұрын
When did I say that the South of Syria returned under a peaceful manner? I only said Quneitra, and there is nothing factually incorrect about that. Regarding Israeli "evacuations" I think you conveniently ignored that militants were evacuated and treated in Israeli hospitals, even sparking protests in the occupied town of Majdal Shams. Anyhow, the video isn't about any of that. It's about Quneitra and how Israel flattened it upon withdrawal in 74. I wonder what Quneitra's ex-residents think of the "moral Israeli army" evacuating civilians.

Most of the residents of the Golan Heights are Druze & many have Israeli citizenship and serve in the Israeli army. There are also about 30,000 Israelis living there. Israel annexed the Golan in 1980 & it has been part of Israel for more than twice as long as it was part of Syria.
@travellingtheunknown2 жыл бұрын
An interesting note is that Israel offers citizenship to Syrian Druze from the Golan Heights, but few of them have actually accepted it as a percentage of the total population. As such, they remain Syrian citizens, despite being unable to cross the border since 2011

It has been part of Syria since the Roman times and the Syrian citizens of the Golan are forced by the occupation to get citizenship for the zionist dictatorship.

I’m a former isr*eli citizen that used to live in the Golan Heights and i can confirm that most of what you said is untrue, currently most of the druzim there don’t have is*aeli citizenship and no one from any of the villages served in the idf (i have many friends from the towns there majdal shams, massadeh, buqata, ein qunia and ghajar), it’s possible for them to get the israeli citizenship though, + it doesn’t matter if it has been a part of syria for less time since the syrian independence than it has been occupied by isr*el, it’s still syrian territory that is occupied, 99% of the countries in the world say so and most of the druze living there, plus i have to add on top of what you said about the isr*eli settlers living there that most of the isr*eli settlers there live in occupied syrian christian/muslim/Circassian towns (there’s still pictures online of Isr**li troops forcing syrians to leave their homes, that led for 500k+ syrians to flee the golan heights and become refugees, many were murdered and most of the towns were destroyed), remember the bloody history and don’t fabricate.
