Very nice! Actually impressive that Russians can design and build such modern public transit facilities that bear no resemblance to what we think of as the drab utilitarian architecture of the old commie Soviet Union. As good or better than anything in Europe or the West. You would never find such clean and well maintained public infrastructure works in the USA. I think those textured tiles are for the visually impaired. Also I didn't see markings on the platform for the train door locations as you might see on other metro train stations... Keep up the good work Russell!

Its simple... Sanctions work against banana republics like Israel, not against mega giant empire like superpowers with every possible industry and resources. And only absolute mouth breathers would consider those sanctions in the first place. But as we know, the west has been blessed with a plethora of mouth breathers who think they run the world and believe they are the pinnacle of humanity, And oddly enough those applying the sanctions are mostly the banana republics themselves, who then wonder how come they have price hikes, make sense of THAT.

Their videos were not even political, they just showed how beautiful Russia is, talking to people. The other 3 vloggers i know were banned too for their political views. Putin doesn't have anything to do with it. It's Sobyanin, the Moscow mayor. Moscow has its own budget. You can technically go to any city in Russia and assess the work of the mayor. Some look amazing, some don't, and it has nothing to do with Putin. Putin is the President of the country, he has no time to deal with every city's budget or metro stations or museum openings. Every city has its money and how the mayor utilizes the money for the sake of the city and people, that's what matters. Putin should not even be responsible for that. He has a bigger fish to fry. However! I understand your point. The mayors and regional governors became more responsible under Putin. I give him credit for that. Absolutely. Don't get me wrong - i love Putin. But I also want to give the credit to those mayors where credit is due.

Perth Western Australia has 2,145 mil. people. NO METRO, transport is poorly managed. Only occasional buses. Trains are vandalised, very dangerous to ride on them. Excessive cars.

The wavy tiles under your feet are for blind people. The tactile tiles with circles are warning. And the straight or angular lines indicate the way to follow.

Keep up the good work Russell!
@TravellingwithRussellАй бұрын
Thanks. Of course the older stations in the center are the real beauties of the Metro system, meanwhile these new ones are much more modern and futuristic.
@BlueSpruce2Ай бұрын
@@TravellingwithRussell I certainly agree with you regarding the older stations. Of course most of those are underground so not much external architectural forms or features to see. Nevertheless they are engineering marvels in their own right with finishes and public artworks - even the ones depicting a worker's paradise. - to rival most museums...😃 Cheers!
@ChelseaChfy-ex1poАй бұрын
@BlueSpruce2 What are you on about? Some of the most beautiful architecture was built during the Soviet era. The first and most beautiful metro stations, Moscow State University and many other institutes and universities, many theatres and canals, the Stalinist 7 skyscrapers etc…. I think you need to do some actual research on the subject.
@BlueSpruce2Ай бұрын
@@ChelseaChfy-ex1po I'm sure there are a few Soviet era buildings worth looking at but most of the Soviet architecture I have seen are outside of Moscow and they are not impressive at all. Yes we know Russia is a sprawling country, but I suspect then, as now, the focus on building architecturally significant buildings is centered on Moscow. I rely on what I see from the lens of people like Russell so if you would like to point me in the direction of good resources for worldclass Soviet architecture I would be happy to look into it.

hey. in the video you asked why do these tiles on the floor exist. heres the answer: they are maid for blind ppl to indicate if they are going in the correct way. basically they touch it with their pole and understand that they are in the right place. you can find these basically anywhere - on the streets near crosswalks etc
