Based on watching, do you have a favorite metro station of the 7 new ones recently opened. Perhaps you've been on the Moscow Metro before, and you love the older original stations. Or your more inclined to love the new modern ones. Let me know in the comments before. Don't forget to give Max some love in the comments also. I think he needs his own channel. The stations look amazing. So much space and very clean design. It is especially good that each station has its own unique design, so you always know instinctively it is your station when you simply notice colour schema or a fragment of design pattern. No need to even look for station name, you kind of know from design patterns where you are. It can be so confusing in London on the other hand. All looking very dark and almost no design that could distinguish one station from another.

Просто на автодорогах бывают пробки и можно в них простоять пару часов, а метро всегда работает, практически круглосуточно. На важное мероприятие- совещание, поезд, самолёт, офис- лучше добираться, пользуясь поездами метро.

Originally Joseph Stalin said Metro Stations should be grand and beautiful places like museums to uplift and edify the working people. It's so good to see, even in the 21st century Moscow Metro stations uphold a great Stalinist ideal of making truly awesome Metro Stations. Honestly I don't think another subway system in the world comes close to the unrivaled grandeur of Moscow's Metro System. Thank you so much for capturing and sharing these awesome metro stations with us. Heck yeah I'm extremely well pleased with this. I've seen old and new Moscow Metro Stations and I LOVE THEM ALL for reasons as different and individual as the stations themselves. I'd have to be Solomon to choose just one station to love.

The very first line of Moscow subway was very modest, built in 1935 without much pomp and without stalinist "architectural excesses". Nice, not cheap but not "underground museums" either. It was a local project, well below Stalin's radar. Experienced first-tier architects refused to work on subway designs, clearing the path for the younger generation. The "collective Stalin" and their propaganda machine jumped on the opportunity only after 1935, so the "truly awesome" stuff emerged only when the second stage opened in 1938. And even these stations now look modest compared to post-WW2 designs.

Very impressive. I'm originally from Philly. We have only two lines, one elevated with subway through downtown. When I was young, perhaps 60 years ago, we rode the Broad Street Subway to get to my allergist. Back then, cars were old, but really cool, lit by mostly incandescent light bulbs, no graffiti. Same with the stations, each with mosaic walls of a different color theme, with the station and street names spelled out in the tiles. I thought it was so cool and beautiful--and still would be if it were in a different city. But today Philly is a toilet, and you could not take these trains without fear of crime. And sadly, it's been that way for decades.

In Toronto, Canada, they spent billions to build one LRT (Light Rail Transit) line. They went tens of millions over budget and spent 14 years building it. However, after two years of completion, it is still not operational. And now, funny enough, it requires fixes without even being used. So, the people of Toronto have lost any hope that it will open any time soon.

About couple weeks ago a homeless person was set on fire by an illegal immigrant on a Brooklyn subway. Governor Kathy Hochul summoned 750 national guards to monitor and protect subway stations along with the NYPD. Still hasn’t done much to prevent crimes as they don’t ride on the trains and you still get horrible incidents. Now congestion pricing will punish people who don’t want to take dangerous public transportation going into the CBD of Manhattan. New York is really an embarrassment of a world class city. Now look at this new line, it’s beautiful, clean, safe. I’m sure even the oldest subway stations in Moscow are safer and cleaner than the ones in NY.

I have been there a number of times. THE MAIN IMPRESSION : you feel amazingly safe in downtowns of Russian cities. Don't miss a famous jewel of Russian imperial palaces' architecture : the so called "Amber Room" (Catherine-palace, in a suburb if St.Petersburg). Don't look at its wikipedia-pictures. You need to be physically standing in the middle of this magnificient Amber Room, and I guarantee, you'll be absolutely amazed. P.S. Search right here in KZbin by typing in : "OTAVA YO YABLOCHKO" and ... summertime St.Petersburg is all yours. - Enjoy.

2:29 OK, Russell, I'll try to explain one last time why in Russia it is not a Christmas tree, but a New Year Spruce tree. New Year Russia began to be celebrated only since January 1, 1700 (also introduced a new chronology from the Birth of Christ). In the decree of Peter I from December 20, 1699 he ordered that all houses should be decorated with pine, fir or spruce branches. Since little was known about such a tradition in Russia, samples of decorated trees were exhibited in Moscow's Gostiny Dvor. However, after the death of the sovereign, this new tradition was soon forgotten, and the dressed-up tree became a symbol of the New Year's holiday only in the 30-40s of the XIX century. After the 1917 revolution, the Bolsheviks again banned all the old holidays. It was only in the 1930s that spruce trees were brought back as a New Year decoration. As you can see, spruce trees have NEVER been associated with Christmas in Russia...

When the second stage is completed, it will connect the Moscow Central Circle (МЦК) with the city of Troitsk via the Southern, South-Western, Troitsk and Novomoskovsk districts of Moscow. Its length will be more than 43 km with 17 stations and it will become one of the longest radius of the Moscow metro and the largest outside the Moscow Circle Automobile Road (МКАД)....
