I don't care much for upgraded rooms, since I always spend so little time in them, to make the best of my stay. However, in some hôtels, the cheapest rooms imply long walks because they are often located off main building, or furthest away from the elevators. You may want to make a specific video with what rooms are preferable according to various criteria. My last stay at the Bellagio was a nightmare since I had to walk all through the Hôtel to get to the back tower. At least the room was "cheap". I never planned my restaurants or buffets ahead, because I never know in advance where I am going to be at any given time. I never had to wait very much either. I never really stay in the same spot, so I would hate to have to trade my time around a restaurant's appointment. My tip is that I usually avoid the typical rushes by picking odd hours to eat. Obviously, it is not for everybody. if you have a family with kids, I know this is not achievable. Kids are not going to resist. Another tip I would like your advice upon, is how to get non watered down cocktails at decent prices. My experience is terrible! the cheap drinks are basically ice cubes with color. Even top places give you a few cl (centiliter (I like the metric system)) of booze for high prices. I tried to heavy tip my Casino cocktail waitress, but that did not work either.

This video was super validating because I was already doing half of them before I even knew they were tips, and the rest are super useful. For the $20 trick, I just had the $20 between my fingers and asked the guy at the desk at Paris if they had an Eiffel view room and they did! It was a whole long weekend of the Bellagio fountains going off behind the tower. Best $20 I ever spent

If you're going to a buffet like the Wicked Spoon. Try to get there around 30 minutes before they switch to the lunch/dinner price, which is usually more expensive.

In rechecking room rates AND car rental rates...you might want to clear your cookies on your computer. The properties and business keep track of your interaction with their sites by cookies and typically will not show lower rates. This evening, I was checking the Golden Nugget and the original offer was $177/night....I looked at other properties and then went back to the Nugget and the price went up $50/night and not matter what I did, it would not lower. Until I cleared the cookies. ~S

Good catch. Often those rates are generated by an automated system using algorithms. The next day a human looks at what the system did the night before and overrides it. I know of one chain that updates their rates 12 times a day.

Do you use your rewards card or the card you have on file for your room? And 3, we are a family of 4. Can I get a card for everyone? I think I read where there can only be 2 accounts per mailing address so can my family just use mine? Thanks again!!!

I love your advice about third-party websites. Third-party websites were probably useful 20 years ago, but they are relics now that only create problems. I travel a lot. I always tell people-if you like a hotel, a car rental place, or an airline then go to their website and join whatever program they have, even if you are doing it in the lobby of the hotel where you want to stay one minute before you try to get a room. In the past ten years, whenever I have been in line behind someone at a hotel arguing with the person at the front desk, the problem is with a third-party site 100% of the time.

If you get a deal through a site like Working Advantage, though, they're hard to beat on rates. We got 4 nights for $501 at Park MGM and it was going to be over double that direct through the hotel. Even the rep I spoke to at Park said "Nope, we're leaving that reservation right where it is! We can't beat that!" LOL

Good call! hôtels usually bet on customer's laziness for moving to another hôtel, so they have increasing rates as your stay progress. It is not always obvious the rate is going to change after the first night. In the same way they don't show the "resort fee" that you will need to pay above the room rate.

This is typical of the Las Vegas hôtels. The price of the night increases after the first night. I learned that the hard way. Ruby's tip is very valid. In Vegas, never lower your guard because the hôtels are continuously looking at ways to con you in spending more.

My tip is keep an eye on the food and drink package deals. When I booked my stay at Park MGM there was a $50 food and drink credit per day within the MGM properties for about $15 more than the standard room rate when you charged back to your room. As I was planning to eat at some of those places anyway it made sense.

However, you also must pay attention to the food & beverages deal rules, MGM for one only valid for day of when you check in but not the day when you check out on a one night stay, I learned it the hard way, end up not able to use the credit and losing it, thought I would use the credit the next day at Bellagio brunch buffet

Excellent video! I moved to Vegas in 2021 after visiting here many times a year. All of your tips are great - but there is one that I never really paid attention to until I was a local. Look for happy hours where there can be some significant savings - even at nice restaurants on and off the strip (like Hanks at Green Valley Ranch). You can often beat the rush (before or after), and have a really nice meal for less. And I agree 100% that you should not over plan. My favorite and most memorable trips were the ones where we had no plan.

Usually when I charge to my room You just tell the server for the cashier or whoever that you'd like to charge it to your room. They will probably ask your room number and to see your room key. However, the restaurants need to be in the same chain. You can't charge meals etc. at Caesars on your MGM card... They have to be affiliated!!
@JasonEmerson711
@JasonEmerson711 Жыл бұрын
This is more of a ploy when you stay at a mega chain resort, like MGM ones or Caesars properties. Both are EXCELLENT when it comes to dining options in their many casinos. Simply ask your server to charge to your room, and they will verify that you are indeed the person that you claim you are. It makes the world of a difference when you want to stay in nice places on the strip, but don't gamble heavy. Corporations are focusing lots of effort into dining and entertainment as opposed to just trying to get you into the casino. You can build some nice point by simply charging everything you can to your room as opposed to paying cash or card.

To add to the split stay, if you use the Vegas slots, you can do two different MGM properties and get two different free slot plays. If you stay more than three nights at each property and you have the points, that can add up to 1$75 in each property.

Love the tip about charging all your eating and dining in the hotel to your room. Show the hotel you’re spending money so they can give you some sweet comps and freebies. Do you have to tell your room number or show your room card? Glad you mentioned also charging eating to your room when you’re out at sister properties of your hotel. I totally wouldn’t have thought of that. Makes sense that the sister properties are all in the same system and can credit your dining to your room.

A good benefit of booking on the hotel site vs like Expedia or Orbitz is for big weekends. When you book a stay someplace, the site where you book it as is responsible for your room. So if you book thru say Priceline and you get to the hotel and it's oversold, you have to go thru Priceline to get another room and who tf knows where they'll put you. EDC vet here. I don't know how many ppl have had to stay in sketch motels because they booked thru a discount site on a really busy Vegas weekend"

It takes a little practice to be a camel. I think the issue is that in the US (I am from Texas), we are too used to AC running everywhere. Las Vegas is easier on me because it is not as humid as H'town. At least you don't get all sweaty in 30 seconds after you started to amble. When I was in better shape, I walked the strip. I would add that is you are a cheap son-of-a-gun like I am, a bus pass -either a 24-hr ($8) 0r 72-hr ($20). Say you are at Paris and want to go to the Venetian, grab the bus. Decide you want to go downtown, take the bus. Maybe not the preferred way to go if you are going clubbing or partying and it is public transportation so it can be crowded and you may encounter a person or two whose grasp on reality is tenuous. The Deuce has a number of stops, generally at or near all the big properties on the Strip, one near the Arts District and 3 or so around Fremont St. There is an RTC app also. Do not forget the free tram between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, and from Excalibur you can walk over to Park MGM that has a tram that goes to Bellagio. They run regularly and are free. If you do casual dining, try for a seat that faces out towards the Strip (or Fremont St.) and enjoy the show.

Quick heads up with charging things to the room. If you decide to charge to the room hotels (Resorts World Hilton did this) decided to raise our deposit which you put on a card upfront. Aria also does this as well. If you use a card you're not intending to pay the entire amount with I would advise making sure you're not spending too much or the hotels will enact this raise to your deposit which will hit your card. Be forewarned as it can get messy.

Use to the monorail. It saves walking and a 24 hour pass I believe is $15 which is a great deal if you plan on going up and down the strip.

1. I like the MyVegas Blackjack app, same as slots, but not so boring. 1.a. I thought I was going to get a deal using points from the app for a quick overnight at Luxor this year,. then booked direct online and only had to pay resort fees...they comped it without me even asking. BOOK DIRECT 2. We checked in years ago and lucked into somebody who was from our same state. Small talk got us an upgrade at Luxor. The bellhop got a fiver for holding on to our luggage since we got there too early to check in though...BE GENEROUS

Whenever I try to book through the hotel directly - their prices are at least 3 times more expensive than if I went through a 3rd party site and they are completely non negotiable when I contact them about it. I suppose if you are already a premium member who dropped 10K+ the last time you visited they may give you a break but for us regular folk? That never happens.

Solid tips. I'm not a fan of staying at more than one property on a trip, unless you have the time the day you change. Otherwise it's soo much dead time, plus either waiting til 4 for your room or pay for early check in

Love your channel Ruby! I look forward to and watch every video! I first discovered you about 2 years ago when, after a long night at Frankie’s tiki bar and the pepper mill, I lost my wallet with my credit cards!!! I only had $300 cash for 4 days in Vegas. The cheap eats saved my wallet and gave me something fun to look forward to. Looooove your travel videos AND slot videos!!!

Thanks Ruby. We are from the 🇬🇧 UK. we used to visit Vegas every December prior to Xmas. The rates were lower not as many people. Covid struck so curtailed any travel to the USA We are hoping to go back maybe in Feb or April. Vegas prices have spiralled out of control + our weak pound.
