Yes. Penang is overrated. Kedah & Perlis up north have lots more to offer than Penang . I'd rather go to the east coast if i really want to choose the best places in Malaysia. Cameron Highland overdeveloped and now it has lost its appeal. Genting... nasty place that one. Perhaps only gamblers would find it appealing. I personally hope that the Genting casino will be demolished some day & gone for good.

But redang a a huge island with a small airport like tioman. Yes, due to lack of information, tioman to you was a challenge. But nevertheless, you tasted it.

For your next trip, do check out these places instead. Instead of Penang, check out Perak for better food selection. Kuala Kangsar and Taiping was a great start, but Ipoh have a lot of foodie spots. Instead of going to Genting/Cameron for highlands, check out Bukit Tinggi and Janda Baik off the Bentong town and Frasers Hill for a more charming and laid back vibe. On the way to Kelantan, do take a moment to stop by Cherating beach for a very quiet as well as surfer spot in the area. There is also turtle sanctuary nearby. Kenyir lake can be a hit or miss, but when you know some locals, you can score a very scenic spots and can truly be within the wild. Especially if you like to check out the fishing scene. This is also a nice place to stay on a boathouse. Pahang goes underrated with foreigners but among locals, it is a local destination for a quick get away. An hour or two off Kuala Lumpur have a few hills and mountain hikes you can enjoy, if you are into that. Kuala Kubu Bharu and Ulu langat is within Selangor state, which have the same vibe as Taiping old town. Seeing your love for nature, i think west Malaysia would be your ideal place in Malaysia. Do check out the Rainforest Music Festival which happens annually in Sarawak.

As a Dutchman living in Malaysia for many years i find your video / commands interesting I have to disagree on some of the things you say You didnt like Penang? Penang is a beautiful place one of the best places in Malaysia it is not for nothing called the pearl of the orient It has some interesting places to go and see and it also has some nice beaches You mentioned Cameron highlands and how there was no going in to the jungle this is not true In Cameron highlands you can book guided jungle tracking. They bring you in to the jungle with a 4 wheel drive I know people on vacation / holiday have only so much time aand so many things to see But you never mentioned my home town Melaka paradise city but i guess if you dont like Penang you wont like Melaka An other place to go to is Ipoh Next time you come maybe try to find information or just ask local people

its a matter of preference. theyre definitely have a certain unique taste for nature and simplicity.
@willidevegt88313 ай бұрын
@@marianaatan410 i agree it is a matter of preference but she mention things that is not true like she said they thought Cameron highlands is a place for jungle tracking but than found out it is not well i have been to Cameron highlands countless times and it definitely is a place where you can do this there are many guided jungle tracking offered and you can ask any Malaysian if i`m right or wrong this makes me think they have not done a proper research about the places they go and dont get me wrong i understand if they didnt because when you travel you have just so much time and so many things to see. And saying Penang was not a place they like i can not understand in the whole world Penang is known as the pearl of the orient how can you say it is not a nice place. There are a number of things to do and see in Penang from old architecture to nice beaches and among Malaysians famous food places or Penang hill or Kek Lok Si temple which is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia and many more. I thought when you travel to a foreign country you want to know about the culture of that country. She also didnt mention Melaka which also has a very rich old history and is probably the place where everything started in Malaya Also here are many things to see and explore like harmony street where you have Chinese + Indian temple and Islamic mosque side by side and one can argue it is 1 of very few places in the world where different religions are so near together in harmony the Buddhist temple there by the way is the oldest Buddhist temple in south east Asia I think they missed out on many things

@@willidevegt8831 tbh i also has very low interest to go to cameron highland ever again. mainly due to the traffic conditions there these days. the traffic congestion there is very bad. i think thats the reason they dislike cameron highland. they tend to dislike high traffic places and overly crowded in spaces.
@willidevegt88313 ай бұрын
@@marianaatan410 Hello and good day Mariana not sure you watch the video or not the point that she made was not about traffic the point she made was that when they went to Cameron highlands they thought you can do jungle tracing but than she said they where disappointed to find out you can not do jungle tracing in Cameron highlands and i just only made the point that what she says is wrong there are multiple places in Cameron highlands that offer guided jungle tracing i feel when you make a video for others to see who than have to make up their mind if they want to visit that place you should give the right information. What if some one from Europe thinks he or she want to go to Malaysia Cameron highlands for jungle tracing and this person watches the video where it is said there is no jungle tracing and than change plan to go to an other place and because of that misses out on a very nice opportunity because of wrong information And by the way I`m in Malaysia around 15 years and i can tell you there is always a lot of traffic there thats why you need to plan properly like dont go on public or school holidays And yes she mentioned about Penang they felt to many people but come on to many people doesn't make it that Penang is not aa nice place to visit Also for Penang and by right for any tourist place in Malaysia you have to plan to avoid the crowds like i said before dont go on public or school holidays if you dont like the crowds For my wife and me we love Penang because it is very simple and safe to walk every where that way you also avoid traffic jams For example KL (Kuala Lumpur) we always park our car near KLCC and from there we walk or take public transport again easy to avoid traffic jams See thats the thing get the right information before you go and plan properly All places in Malaysia are great but do your homework and plan before you say oh that place is not nice because so and so or we thought you can do jungle tracing but we found out can not when there are many places offering jungle tracing Any way just my few cents have a nice day Mariana and dont let traffic stop you from going places you will miss out

So its great for you enjoy road trip from west to east peninsular. Next time you may enjoy east coast road trip from kota bharu, kuala terengganu and down to mersing. It's really great coastal vibes but make sure its around March to August. And also be prepare for more natural surrounding and some places far from town. But you already face it during road trip from west to east. So it may similar but with coastal vibes. But to enjoy more of it, plan for road trip from kuching to kota kinabalu. It really great natural vibes but be prepare for more dangerous wildlife in many places. Don't simply get into water as you did in peninsular. Ask the local first before get into any river or beaches.

There’s a third highland, called Fraser’s Hill which is less developed than Genting, less commercialized/ agriculturally commercialized than Cameron. Not much to do there, just chill and relax. There were many colonial cottages with in-stay butlers, but I’m not sure they are still in operation. These guys can make you a whole spread just like how it was done British-style. The main event is the International Bird Race, and also the Le Tour de Langkawi cycling which i think no longer goes to Fraser’s Hill (Need to check the annual calendar events). Locals go up to Cameron Highlands for a night stay during weekends, Fraser’s Hill tend to be a day trip. I would rate Fraser’s Hill #1, followed by Cameron and lastly Genting. Ppl normally go to Tioman for scuba diving, as well as to nearby smaller island like Aur Island. Great if you would consider taking up the open water basic license, and then going to these islands for the advanced license. Reason: basic license you learn techniques which u want to get right and clear understanding of the steps, advanced license are geared towards different type of activites to learn, but most importantly, u would be descending deeper into the ocean, and that u wouldn’t freak out. It’s a very good, especially if u planning to go to Borneo side of Malaysia, as there are many great dive sites there. There’s a combined license as well, but i wouldnt recommend that, coz I believe in getting ur basic right, then explore. Lastly, most dive sites are seasonal due to the monsoon be it at the East Coast or East Malaysia, so do check out the weather and do check with the dive operators, especially on what kind of marine life you want to spot. (I would want to dive at Turtle Tomb one day at Sipadan, but I have yet to find out more when’s the best time and requirements)

Not many have achieved such feat. Good evaluation on places to visit and not worth 2nd visit. I'm from Shah Alam and i think the best cities to live permanently and have such good vibes are Kota Bharu, Dungun, Kangar and Kuching. Where to next Mario & Olivia? Edit: You should try another route from Cameron Highlands to Gua Musang to Kuala Terengganu. You have to spare extra gas though for this route. Locals will advise u to not go thru this route after 7pm because of wild elephants and other animals. The road isn't good, potholes everywhere tho. But the best thing about this route is you won't find it anywhere else. The scenic view of Tasik Kenyir from slightly higher altitude. Mario would drop his jaw if he flies his drone there. Magnificent view. I drove well around Malaysia couple of times but nothing beats this view. I didn't stop to fly drone there because i was alone and didnt wanna stop because of wild tigers. I drove there for a few hours only saw one other car along the stretch.
