I was wondering if the sound went off in certain places in the video on purpose during the editing process. It seemed to me that the timing of the sound going off was censoring of content that someone decided was either incorrect or inappropriate. When I look at what the topic was that was being talked about, it seemed like when editing, it was decided to leave parts out without cutting into the flow of the visual. That is my guess anyway. Notice the content when the sound cut off. She was talking about King Ferdinand "living in sin" with the woman opera singer and about their room situation. Another time, she was talking about workers or even "slaves".....My guess is censorship.

Hi Stephanie, the Portuguese you are learning it's not the Portuguese from Portugal, it is Portugal from Brasil! I'm Portuguese and I'm very happy watching you in your trip to Portugal ❤

I was about to say the same. Português from Portugal is a bit different from Brasil Português. Some words can be offensive in Brasil while in Portugal they are not.

I can’t imagine how all the workers and artisans who created the palace arrived at work every day with their lunch pails , did their jobs and went home each day. They must have stayed there until their work was done. It’s hard, in the twenty first century to conceptualize.

Another amazing location. I love the history lesson too. So little time was spent on Portuguese history during my primary and secondary education. Beyond Henry the Navigator, Ferdinand Magellan and Vasco de Gama, I don't recall much. The sound editing was a bit frustrating, but it wasn't bad enough to bail. There were some beautiful fabrics throughout, too many to mention. The Vista Alegra porcelain is lovely. I can see why Camilla likes it. It really is of exceptional quality. I've never run across that in charity shops. Philip must have been loving the experience. I'd love to know what the Master of Tassels thought of the pretty trims on the chaise longue. Thanks again for bringing us along on your adventures. ❤ from TX!

I was intrigued by the last item of the menu in the dining room. so much so that I looked it up: plombière au parfait. Ends up that it is a parfait (in other words layers of either ice cream (French) in honor of Napoleon, served with a chocolate sauce between the layers or a caramel sauce layered between custard layers) of ice cream that is made from cream, fresh egg custard, sugar and fruit confits steeped in kirsch for 2 weeks then blended into the cream custard, frozen then layered with a complimentary sauce, usually chocolate but sometimes caramel or port custard. Plombière refers to the type of goblet that was used to hold the parfait - lead crystal. Hence the name "plombiere" derived from "plomb" which is "lead" in French. It is also said that the first ever ice cream molds (popular in Victorian times and 19th century) were in fact made of lead.

Very extravagant! Just my style! lol Could not imagine the climbing though to get there but guess with a Castle like this, you would stay right there most the time with much to do. Painting away the days and nights, Reading and writing and just making sure all is done as you would please! What a life. At least until you are, 'assassinated! ' Seems like these poor Kings could not stand a chance! But they sure lived the perfect life for several years. But unfortunately, their lives were cut shorter than it should have been. So hard to be the ruler and to realize you will make enemies, as not all can think or agree alike. Much jealousy! They paid highly for all the fame and elegance, in the end. But I guess they had fun while they could! Most would only dream of this kind of living now. The wives were not the most gorgeous of all of the kingdom as you may expect, I noticed and am so surprised. (Depends on where love ends up though. There is much more than looks involved.) But maybe the styles were different, and they did not have the ability to maybe fix up like one can today and do so much to try to look young or dye hair or do things as such, to be nice looking including the "extensions" it was harder in those days to really be photogenic and that was just for pictures in later years. Often a painting was all that could be relied on. The paintings and artwork were fabulous, as well as choices of China and furnishings. LOVED that dining-room/refectory, and that is what I truly found to pop right out, as it is that kind of style, that seems so perfect in a castle, at least!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Stephanie, and Oliver for making this vlog a success and so enjoyable! Could not imagine seeing this in person, and all the 'tiles' all over the Castle was marvelous to say the least! Am positive this was hard work especially done in those times with what they had to work with!
