In February 1973 I visited Portugal. Stayed in Lisbon and took day trips including Sintra ! Beautiful 😍

You know what is SO sad Stephanie... All of Sintra is being taken over by tourists. We have recent visited all of Portugal so its nice to see your vlogs, to see the places we also have been. But.... We have spoken to some locals in Sintra and they are complaining that they are no longer able to keep living there. A) because of the many many tourists that visit Sintra all year round. That can't park their cars, and its a small town and are run over by millions of visitors... Its too much they say But B) because it is so populair, its in the Unesco list. Wich means that if there houses need maintenance, they are under law forced to build in the old style. Understandeble on the one side but it is SO expressive to do so and also the builders who can do that work the old way are hard to find and expensive. So.... If you walk in the city of Sintra... You can see a lot of houses empty and abandoned... Fallen in disrepair. The people told us that if we see a house that has had maintenance, you can count on it that its a boutique hotel or air B&b... That is so sad. For the tourists its nice because at least some houses are saved. But the people that belong there are moving out. That made us very sad to know. And we were there half september and the number of Touring cars, tuctuc's, cars, people walking up and down the mountain is insane... Really insane.

It's interesting to learn this. It would have been more insightful if this information was included in the vlog. The same thing has occurred in our province in Italy. Over tourism is destroying our villages. Throughout summer it's not possible to get onto the local bus or ferry, get a park to shop, go to the doctor or church. Properties are being purchased by foreign investors and let as short term rentals. Very sadly young local residents can no longer afford to buy homes in their own villages and are moving away. No one is sure what the future has in stall.

Im a expat living in France, I have no other home just my home in france. The area I live in always has a house or two for sale in so wont be pushing anyone out..my home needed alot of renovations. I dont agree with foreigners coming into a country jyst to buy a property not live in it, then rent it out for holiday lets or as a rental. Its up to governments to step in and make it illegal for this to happen, but you can do it if it the principal home you live there. That would be fair.

Stephanie and Oliver you bring us to some amazing destinations. What a beautiful home that is shared at times with special guests. Just amazing views and that balcony is the perfect spot to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets, the pool looked like a dream to swim in too. The gardens, goats, chickens, ducks just lovely. I enjoyed seeing the lanterns hanging high along the golf cart ride. The young man did a super job of explains how the home is open for weddings and events, and the fresh Fruit and vegetables along with fresh eggs and goat milk for everyone can enjoy. He was wonderful and gracious. Thank you for sharing your journeys to such fabulous places. ❤❤❤

Oliver really has the most exquisite taste in places to visit on holidays. The vlog you did of the buildings in Spain was beyond amazing and now this place…???!!! He keeps out doing himself every time. This property is so wonderful. If money were no object, I would definitely book the entire place just for myself & my immediate family for at least a week or two (can you just imagine). Thank you for sharing, I SO, enjoy it!!

Splendid! And, very nice touch, that rendition of "What Child is This?" Reminds me of a cross between the botanical lushness of the San Diego Zoo, and Hearst Castle's placement above San Simeon, California. That lilac divan in the main sitting room(?) was so scrumptious, I just wanted to stare at it. And I'd be in that pool until I was a prune. 😅
