Traverse no start after fueling P0496

Diagnosing a check engine light on 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. Symptom of not starting after filling with gas. Going thru procedure to fix trouble code of P0496-evap system flow during non purge. and also reasoning for no start condition. Thanks for watching!

Its my 3nd purge valve solenoid in 2 years. I did get it from amazon but its a lifetime warranty and they sent me a new one and another CEL.

Just wanted to say thank you! For taking the time to make and post this video. I was stuck at a gas station with my family, tired and worn out just trying to get home when the car would NOT start. Found this video and was able to get back on the road and ordered a new valve.

@@acleverlettuce5556 I sure did it was the battery!! I confirmed it with a online gm tech!! I noticed too the battery I had was older then 5 years believe it or not

No engine code here but the part tested bad just like in the video and it appears this was our whole problem. We've filled up 3 times since I swapped it out and it starts up fine now. It is also super-easy to follow the test in this video and swap the part. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I don't do very much of my own work, but this was a breeze. I would even suggest that this is a great easy level repair you can have your teen do under your supervision.

I’m pretty sure my code was PO496 that showed after fuelling and my traverse wouldn’t start. I put new purge valve in and it starts now but throwing code PO443. Runs fine but remote doesn’t work because check engine light is on and when I erase it, it comes back on immediately. It’s getting cold so now I’m trying to fix it!

My 2012 chevy traverse has been having this exact same issue. Just today it started wanting to run for a few seconds after engine shut off. Would the purge valve cause that as well

If it didn't start at the fuel pump immediately after fueling then likely the problem, if just went to start and it stalled probably something else. Any trouble codes?

I have a 2018 Traverse doing almost the same thing. It will start, but runs terrible for about 15 seconds. If I put gas in while its still running, no problem at all. I'm guessing this purge valve is the problem? What do you think? Thanks

Sounds like a completely different problem, I would chase your low fuel pressure code

How about a 2010 traverse crank no start Worked all day just fine then went for a ride and got stuck at a friends house battery died changed the battery but now it wont start
