We don't know what prompted him to act out the way he did. I read he was despondent over the death of a close relative. Could he have had a mental health breakdown? We just don't know yet. As a military mom myself, I just hope that he gets the help that he needs if he is unwell. If that is not the case, I know that he will be prosecuted for his actions. I would suspect he will get a psych evaluation. The only reason he might be in the military for a while is the military might not want to dump their problem on the civilian population. As far as making an example of him, it's pointless because nobody sane is going to follow his example.
