He strikes me as a very intelligent person. To do what he does and be alive and well, I think you have a balance of extreme intelligence and extreme insanity.

Ryan Caropino he actually passed school earlier than normal and was extremely good at physics. Most of his jumps are made up by himself as he is smart enough to accurately make them using physics

+Joe150 ish While making a name bigger name for himself than he ever would have made in racing. You don't have to like or agree with his decision, but to loose respect for someone simply because they chose to do something different in their life that makes them happy really doesn't make sense to me. What does carnival clown even mean, you do know that racing is a also a dangerous form of entertainment, right? Your comment makes you look ignorant, and for anyone who reads this comment, not everyone can be a daredevil, make a career out of it, and do it safely. It takes high intelligence in the areas that matter, strong coordination with good reaction time, a strong work ethic, a supportive family to build the skill that he has, and the ability to break down a situation, analyze what needs to be done to increase the odds of success. Racing too can be just as much of a daredevil sport, you're racing 200 pounds of metal work and engineering around a dirt circuit over dirt, rocks, racing against the conditions for 1st place, with the risk taken being entirely up to you. That compared to performing rotations in a sequence over obstacles sounds pretty similar to me in terms of risk, difference is all that risk is put into a single or series of jumps rather than a 20 minute main or a 30 minute moto. There's nothing to be Mr. Elitist about, let the athlete do that makes them happy (better live, better entertainment, win win), and you can just watch whatever you prefer. Either way the same goal applies, it's all about progression for these guys.

@Joe150 ish lol regardless he deserves more respect than a jealous nobody on the internet talking shit for no reason. And no, not everyone has the balls to do what he does, even if they did, rally and motocross require such insane balance and coordination that 99% of people would die trying to do the things he does. I bet you couldn't even finish a stage on a rally simulator, let alone compete in an actual rally.

They take plans from bar napkins and make them manifest into reality that'd be a little more more than luck but definitely worth being enough nuts so don't worry yourself with death getting wings where they once had shoulders smooth as ravens claws

One thing I enjoyed as a kid was watching Travis race MX and SX and doing freestyle. Travis definitely raised the bar back then.

I know what he means about the slow motion. It's the best feeling ever. I can remember every detail as well while in this trance where you are 100% in the moment. You can even predict whats going to happen next. My sport is drifting and auto cross. The feeling of being one with the car it's like your tires are your own feet and you just know what to do and do it exactly how you should. It's what keeps me coming back and flat broke all the time. Travi P is the best inspiration. As an athlete and a person, I look up to this mofo like a hero.

I've done some action sports stuff but the time that I experience the time slowing down the most was when my wife had a stroke and almost died. Time seemed to stop. It gave me the chance to think and make fast decisions. The down side was it seemed like it took the ambulance an hour to get to my house. In reality it took about 4 minutes.

Yes life or death situations cause the brain for a short time to hyper drive and shoot 60 fps vs 30fps per say which gives the effect of slow motion. I've only had it 2 to 3 times and both happened in car crashes.

ImConfusedTwo I have had it happen a few times and it is weird but really cool at the same time. I wish I could have the ability to switch that on and off at will.
@snowzZzZz
@snowzZzZz 6 жыл бұрын
It can't be switched on and off for a reason. It is a function that is reserved for any event that your brain interprets as life/death, the investment of everything ounce of energy/strength you have into a single moment which determines the outcome of your existence. I'm pretty sure the body wouldn't handle constantly being in this state, although I could be wrong. Depends on what goes into reaching this state, and the difference in utilization compared to a normal operating state.

the coolest thing about Travis is his attitude towards things. Thats why Nitro Circus was a fun show to watch. Him and his crew were always so excited even tho its dangerous as hell. EDIT: Time slows down for musicians too lol it doesn't even have to be on stage or in a big fancystudio. I feel time literally stop when I play music with others or write music. If you can block everything out of your mind, like Travis said, you can slow down the world around you.

+Joe150 ish That's a very one sided point of view you have there, too bad you don't see the investment of time/energy required to achieve that kind of proficiency in anything, let alone something so dangerous. Travis is a smart guy, he knew what career path was best him. You can disagree or dislike someones career path and still have respect for them, so seems like a bit of an elitist attitude to lose respect over a decision like that, especially considering the career he's made for himself doing what you consider to be "Such a Waste."

Joe150 ish Nobody cares about your opinion mate. He’s a legend and is widely respected by all his motor sports peers and more. Go lick Mcgraths boots or something. AMA titles are not the be all and end all of motorcycle titles. You’re just mad he didn’t do what you wanted him to do.

Possibly. But for someone who's had so many injuries - and brain injuries, probably - he speaks remarkably well. Coherent, easy to follow.. he's better off than many others in action sports, that's for sure.
