| Since August 2016, Chilean web series Insigne Sesiones, has been exposing the ideal mix between contemporary
architecture and music, generating the first audiovisual project worldwide that officially joins these two
disciplines. All season episodes have featured musicians in the likes of Camila Moreno, Niño Cohete, Los Jaivas,
Nano Stern and Prefiero Fernandez, all of them very important amongst the Chilean music scene. On the
architectural and "scenographic" side, the session have featured works by artists such as Mathias Klotz, Felipe
Assadi, Juan Luis Martínez, Del Río Arquitectos and Elton & Leniz, renowned Chilean architects who have placed
their work throughout the country. With this, Insigne Sesiones, with only 5 episodes and 6 months of existence has
almost 700,000 views already, positioning itself as one of the cultural referents within the local scene. Its
unique and original contribution has even managed to cross borders, reaching several Spanish speaking countries.
For this season´s finale, the ones in charge of musicalising the last episode will be no other than the Scotish
band Travis, that with 8 records are considered the pioneers of post-britpop. During their last visit to Chile the
band had the chance to record a never-before-seen session in the country, in an acoustic format with two of the
band`s members: Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop. Worldwide anthems for the 90`s and 2000`s are performed to close this
season, in which its aesthetic and sound have given much to talk about.
The sixth episode`s stage will be the exemplary work of architect Sebastian Irarrazaval, called Casa Oruga
(Caterpillar House), located in Santiago, Chile. Second hand containers were used in addition with the city`s
landscape and the Andes mountains to achieve the integration of the living space within its environment. To
achieve this, the volumes of the house have been placed as if they were resting over the slope. At the same time,
interstitial spaces increase the perimeter of the house, which allow the entrance of light within both its sides.
As a consequence of this, the windows and doors align perpendicularly to the main tension of the work. The
dimensions were organised in order to preserve the intermediate spaces so that they allow optimum air circulation
coming from the Mountains.
The material palette was chosen having in mind not only its economic value, but also the low cost of maintenance.
It was important to analyse the capacity of this material and its proper ageing factor, giving it more value with
the passing of the time. Architectonic elements like windows, doors and skylights are rationalised and repeated
all over the house, not only to reduce costs but also to create harmony and integration.
The second season is now a goal for Insigne Sesiones. In fact, conversations are already being held with Chilean,
Latin American , North American, European and South African artists, giving the next steps to integrate global
music into the Chilean architectural works and landscapes.
