I think this was part of a travis trilogy. You should listen to all three back to back. He has amazing vocals. Song titles in order .." anymore .. tell me i was dreaming .. if i lost you ..the first song he is a wounded soldier .. the second his wife dies .. the third he prays never to lose his daughter .. the videos are best ..

Tell Me I was Dreaming is part 2 of the “Travis Tritt Trilogy”. Director and Vietnam Vet Mac Singleton approached Tritt to used his songs: Anymore - Tell Me - If I lost You; to tell the story of a wounded soldier returning. Travis only had one request; that Singleton star in the videos. They are master pieces.

I agree with nearly everyone else. You should watch the Trilogy videos of the story of Mac, the Vietnam veteran. I went to a live concert and his vocals are tremendous. He sat on stage with just his guitar and sang his heart out.

When I was hearing this on the radio in the mid 90s on country stations when I was little, I always heard it as a sad country ballad, but as I got older and started becoming more familiar with genres and how they sound, I started noticing more of the rock influences. This totally is a rock power ballad, and I still love it! Travis Tritt is one of the most rock influenced country artists who was popular during the 90s, anyway. I also love a lot of the guitar parts throughout, and I loved watching Keith notice them. I love how he's always able to make connections to 80s rock bands to country songs/artists I've listened to for a long time. And yes, Travis sings the heck out of this! Btw, while the video trilogy is a nice touch, and they add a nice little story to the songs, I think the songs stand on their own just fine without the videos, which I think all songs should do, as Keith said. In some cases, I think it's better to hear the song first, and then check out the video later, since the videos can sometimes distract from the song.

Dude, there is a reason it's a Country Rock Ballad, because Travis (who I had the biggest crush on) is/was a Country Rock star :) And totally agree on the Aerosmith. The first time I heard this song, my first thought was, "Don't want to miss a thing." though I believe Travis was released first. I am personally ehhh, on the videos. I mean they are good and tell a story, but I think the songs can stand on their own as good songs

Travis Tritt was highly influenced by Southern Rock and it comes through in much of his music. I would recommend songs like 'Put Some Drive In Your Country' or his cover of Elvis' T-R-O-U-B-L-E. A good song to react would be his song 'Here's a Quarter'. Tritt also had a few hit duets with Marty Stuart. The two sound great together on songs like 'The Whiskey Ain't Working Anymore'. They also do an awesome version of 'Can't You See'. Waylon Jennings was a big influence on Tritt and they both sang together and starred in a made for tv movie about Outlaws (alongside Kristofferson). There is a performance with Waylon, Willie, Kristofferson, Tritt and Stuart singing 'Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line'. Not to mention a personal favorite of mine, a performance of Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart and Waylon Jennings singing Waylon's 'Waymore's Blues' that's one you ought to check out.

Yeah, you have to listen to all three songs. And watch the official videos for each song. They tell an amazing story. Travis is seriously talented. And the way the three songs/videos play out is one of my favorite things done by any country artist. Yes, there is a trilogy and m/v’s to go with. Amazing! However, I know you guys don’t really care about videos as much as the music and vocal performance. Please please please do the live version of Anymore, the first in the trilogy. You’ll see him dressed in black with a red guitar and hair past his shoulders to know you have the right one. Him and his guitar and not much else, but it’s the best display of his live vocals. Please someone get this jumped to the front of the line. Thanks and love and light to all! ❤️🙏😇

I don’t recall this crossing (at least here in FL where we have more genre-centric stations). My opinion is, the rock scene was different when this came out (1994). Grunge, alt-rock and all the new artists were getting the airplay. Now, it may have made it on adult contemporary stations where you’d get more classic rock artists. Like I said, my take on that. We could pick up Rock 105 every now and then, but back in the day we had WCIR. They had a very diverse playlist in the 80’s, but by the 90’s they went to more pop/top 40 where they’re at now. His first 4-5 albums were a mix of country, rock, blues with a healthy dose of gospel thrown in. Unfortunately, like Toby Keith, his best songs never got released. I don’t think this got much airplay on the radio, but it was on pretty heavy rotation on CMT.

Yeah, that stare at your shoes and whine stuff was awful. Some of the stuff was great, but not the shoe-staring whiny crap. I mean, Alice in Chains is one of my favorite bands and it's from that era. So it would make sense that if someone wanted to make music like this, country was more likely to be successful than rock. - Keith

I thought I was the only one that can't stand Will Ferrell. haha And yeah dodge ball is awesome! Now about the song...the great thing about country music is that it has went through so many phases that pretty much anything goes so yeah it is a country song and it is also a rock ballad. Country music just crosses over into whatever other genre depending on the phase it is in. I hope that makes sense. Also this song is a part of a trilogy and it makes more sense when played back to back. She doesn't just leave him and him wanting her back. Something really bad happens. If you get the chance to watch them they are great. Just put in Travis Tritt trilogy. Oh and can you guys please add she She Only Meant To Use Him by Conway Twitty.
