Great drumming from the great Pete De Fretais. This was almost the end for the Bunnymen

@UCYn7kB8lvfUtRsHRASTVcLw A very sad day indeed. It’s hard to believe it was 31 years ago, I was 18 at the time and a massive Bunnymen fan.

@@savannahgarcia7976 The Bunneymen finished in 1987 as far as I’m concerned. Anything other than; Ian,Will, Les & Pete is just not the Bunnymen.

One of the greatest Alternative Rock drummers ever, Pete D. I started playing drums in the early 80s and he was a HUGE influence. So much so, my last band in 2020, was covering this song, per my suggestion.

Saw them a month later in Utah. Triple bill with New Order and Gene Loves Jezebel. First date with my future wife. I despised New Wave, being a huge Zeppelin fan, but she was just 18 and I was 22. You gotta do what you gotta do. I hit the Chess King and decked myself out. Satin jacket with shoulder pads. Bolo tie. The works. Even cut my hair for the first time in 5 years. It worked.
@rik1122 жыл бұрын
other than being very melodic and upbeat, Echo isn't far off the elements of Zep. Great lyrics, drumming, bass and guitar. Only the hair and the crowd is different. Good for you for opening up your options.

A huge Zeppelin fan AND a Bunnymen faithful congratulating you and your true Love. With lots of LOVE from South Korea!!!!! My adolescence was colored by Jimmy Page, the ultimate in dark and mysterious. When I was ready for real boys, there was Killing Moon. I feel sorry for all other generations.

What a time to be alive, these and The Cure, and both bands are still touring. All you kids missed out ..... Roll on September and the Ocean Rain tour, coincides with my birthday so there had better be cake at the Royal Albert Hall.

This performance is kinda sad to me. The band already peaked with their great previous albums. Pete was a part time member of the band and won’t be around much longer. I watch this thinking they were done - and Ian moved on to do solo work.

I have to agree with you on Ian's singing. I saw EATBM back back in the early 80's in NYC and again in 2017 in Asbury Park. Ian's years of smoking has taken a toll on one of the greatest and mesmerizing voices in music history (IMHO). I can hear his voice crack many times in this video and it got worse as time marched on, so much so that when he had to adjust his style and sing everything an octave lower than he did in the 80's. His voice has a totally different sound to it these days as well, more raspy and deeper. You would never know that yesterday's Bunnymen was the same band as it is today. Even the song writing is changed, not for the better. I have to live in the past, sadly, "Nothing lasts for ever" and nothing stays the same...
@mozzerianmisanthrope4062 жыл бұрын
@@O2Bars Are they still worth seeing for someone who wasn't born, unfortunately, until 1988? I really want to hear them live once. I'm hoping the next time they tour the UK I can nab some tickets.

Probably lack of connection between them causing uncertainties in their performance around this time. Saw them in '99 at Leeds carling fest and mac's vocal range and delivery was stellar throughout.🎤

@@JOHNBOULTERartandsong Cool. Would love to see them live. Connection is important in performance. Not sure if there’s much between Wil and Mac these days, sadly.
