Awesome tutorial! Im new to animation so dont quote me on this, but for animating that spline, wouldnt you have to go into the graph editor and adjust the curves so you can change the timing of the action and how gradually/suddenly it occurs. Also you could keyframe the sweep and how far along the spline it is, so the 'snake' is growing out.

Setting up the scene and animating the dragon scales, yes because that is simply displacement and the regular tools in c4d. The material creation, i don't know as i don't use redshift.
