Hey Travis! Thank you for having me on your video and for your kind words! I love your channel and feel flattered to be featured. This track was a lot of fun to play and I love Joshbii's and Luca's takes too, they crushed it! I'm also in Nashville by the way - would love to meet you sometime when you're back from the road :) Keep it up! Cheers!

That first white boy KILLED! The ghost notes and fart tone. I loved it! On that beautiful Sandberg. AND slap is tougher (for me) on a 5-string PJ bass. That neck pickup gets in the way. AND he played it at the top of the neck (lower tone). He did it with ease and a sneaky smile at the end. Love that guy! AND love this series. Gimme more.

They all were great. For some reason #1 had my mouth on the floor. I thought the sound and style was perfect. As you said, it seems as though he's played shout gospel before. I thought the Fodera was the best version for #3. As soon as I heard the first note, I said 'Yep'. #2 was good as well, just needed to play with a little more feeling. Well done!

Understandable amounts of love going to Rafael for his incredible playing in the comments, but for me as a bassist there was something so warm, relaxed, and lived-in about the way Josh approached this part. It’s always cool to see different instrumentalist’s interpretations of parts. Awesome video!

Playing Bass since 1968, playing in nite clubs, concerts, recordings "BUT" when I started going and playing in church to church it was a totally different feeling that I had to learn how to play Gospel music with me not knowing that God would take over my life. So, God proved himself to me and gave me a bassline in the 1980 recording "Call Him Up" (Can't Stop Praising His Name Jesus) that I believe changed Gospel Music with a little FIRE in the church, making it impossible to go to sleep in Church, but to stand on your feet and praise God. Great video Terry L. Green Gospel Bass Player.

You requested input on continuing the series. I think it's a phenomenal idea. This is like the Drumeo videos they do for famous drummers, and I'm glad someone's doing something similar for bass. Keep up the great work. Also, I'm glad I came across this. As a bassist super into funk and ska, this seems like a great challenge. I've played in a few churches with other musicians before, but never gospel music. This is the exact kind of challenge I've been looking for as of late. Great video. Great bassists (but Raphael killed it, and was super into it).

I always associate gospel with jazz basses, however the 2 basses that really punched throughout the mix and sounded best were the Sandberg which is a P/MM and the Fedora which is a P/J so that P pickup at the neck actually really works

Love the presentation and articulation noted. Having played Gospel before, I can say it takes a LOT of work to get to this level. Using my ear was definitely a key (along with years of playing) but it takes some practice. Practicing is THE ONLY way to get to this level!
@ericlane807712 күн бұрын
