TIL that a directory being "executable" means that you can execute commands _on_ that directory, rather than having anything to do with executables running _from_ that directory. Neat!

You can argue about what a good baseline is. I use umask 027 so that new files get 640 and new directories 750. The rationale being: If you grant not enough permissions then you will be told about that (and can fix that trivially). Don't expect that to happen if you grant too many permissions...

H,i thanks for your video. 👍🙏❤ I am trying to use vi to edit a -rw-r--r-- modules.blacklist file in android x86 8.1 r6. This file is in /etc directory which 1rwxrwxrwx with -> /system/etc at the end of the listing. I have tried to use: chmod -R 777 etc. But it does not work. And when I try to edit it with vi it says it is readonly. The android installation has not got sudo, and when i type su before the command i dont see any difference. I appreciate it if you please help me chown or chmod or edit the file using vi. Thanks again 🙏🌹❤️🙏
