Over the past year or so, I've either been tasked or chosen to re-track select tunes from the DH back catalog; this is the third one I've knocked out, tracked back in mid-Dec of last year (almost to the day). I tempo-mapped my click to the ebb and flow of the tune and added lots of idiosyncrasies and fill-ins.

Love your stuff as always - you've been a big inspiration to me for a lot, most notably working on leading with my left hand and foot. I have two questions, if you don't mind: 1) Do you have your feet partially off the kick pedals because you prefer that, or is it a side effect from having other stuff set up the way you like it? 2) How do you get your drums sounding so tasty without any gels or dampening?

I prefer the feel. And actually, I have lots of dampening, haha. I use mostly clear Moon Gels ;)

I've made plenty of DH vids sans chart. In those instances, they were tunes we have performed countless times (rehearsals, live). In this instance, I charted and rehearsed a tune over the course of maybe two days.
