Thanks for the info, Travis! Any specific 529 plan recommendations for Texas residents, as we can’t get the Florida plan? Thank you
@TravisSickle8 ай бұрын
There are a bunch that work well. I have a series on the 529 and cover a few of them. They're so close in pricing that it really doesnt matter. A few basis points, which is a fraction of a penny, is the difference in the plans. I personally like the s&p500 funds inside the 529 plans so check out a plan that has that option would be my choice. I also use the Utah and Ohio plans which have the exact same fund.

Dumb question - how do I know which S&P 500 fund to pick? I am looking at the Utah plan.

@@KaseyHolifield-wm6jj same question. I'm in PA 529 and can't really find which fund that mimics or represents the S&P 500.

I don’t think NC does offer a state tax deduction on 529 contributions

Neither am I but I do plan to move to Florida in the next 3 to 4 years due to family. Am I able to enroll in a Florida 529?

Thanks for the info Travis , I like the way you explain things .Is the same plan available in GA 529 plan ? Do you suggest this plan for GA residents as well or is there any better plan available in GA 529 savings plan for GA residents
@TravisSickle8 ай бұрын
You can select a similar option in that plan. You may qualify for a state income tax deduction by using your own state. I believe it's up to $8k in Georgia.
@krishb36427 ай бұрын
You mean the same plan available in GA529k as well

Very good analysis. You hit on something very very few people understand. When you have an all equity portfolio even if it’s cut in half (need every cent in 2008 for instance) you STILL have more money than a 50/50 portfolio due to the 18 years of higher average returns. If you don’t cash out at down 30-45% then you’ll have dramatically more money.
