Trolling for bass behind the boat - this is a method that I’ve used since my early teens on a small open boat in the River Stour.
This session made me fall in love with the method again, the massive bites from even the smallest bass make it one of the most exciting ways of catching fish in the area.

Nice to see someone catching on lures on the east coast. Tried beach, boat & kayak off Clacton & Brightlingsea with no luck so far!

Thanks mate, if the water is clear and the fish are there then it’s such a fun way of catching them! A really rewarding method and very exciting!

Hi Ed love the videos cant wait for the next one i have subscribed, i was thinking of getting a small boat myself, would you recommend a small boat i wasn't sure of all the legal side and costings mooring, ins, anti fouling, etc i know some people say BOAT stands for break out another grand lol would love to hear your thoughts cheers 👍👍👍Andy

Hi Andy, well… would I recommend a small boat? Yes! 100%. But, you need to do your research, take small steps at a time and take time to learn how the boat / sea / your skills all work together. Legally there is not too much to do, just a VHF course for your marine radio. I would also suggest an RYA powerboat level 2 course. The cheapest way to keep a boat is on your drive or a piece of land away from the marina and launch each time. Factor in a trailer and tow car though… In theory if you are handy you can do any work needed yourself servicing the engine etc. In short, boats are a lifestyle - do some research and get a good hull with the best engine your budget allows. Enjoy! Ed

Unlucky Ed, still great to be on the water. Been trolling the stour since the water cleared a few months ago with deep divers. Probably been our most productive trips....back to the whiting now then ! 😂

Whiting are on their way back in for sure. Still other species around though, a small whiting out live could result in something sizeable still 👍🏻
