I was at my local hobby shop and was looking for a new truck. They recommend this truck for me. I wanted something fast but can also go in some dirt. But I saw that arrma infraction and that was the truck for me. I know its not that same type of truck. But I drive mostly on the street and don't do much off-roading. After watching this video, I would have not liked this truck for street use. I can't stand all the wheelies when I'm trying to haul it lol. The arrma infraction is actually really stable to drive on the street which I was surprised. The arrma infraction is definitely the best truck I've ever owned. But I also own the slash 4x4 vxl when I want to off-road.

@@AMain_Hobbies Yeah the truck looks well built and it's a blast. I'm not a fan of the slow response from the remote. It seems to lag a bit when you gas it or brake. I heard other people having issues with it disconnecting from the remote.

@@famtsla Yeah, we had the same issue when the truck gets too far away. There are lots of really good transmitters out there to choose from. You'll need to stick with Spektrum if you want to keep AVC, but otherwise, you're open to whatever you want to use. Let me know if you want some recommendations. @@AMain_Hobbies I use my GoPro hero 7 black for my speed runs. I need to get a little GPS speed meter or whatever they call them. I don't always want to use my GoPro. I left the stock gearing alone and hit 62 mph. I don't want to change the gear since I heard it heats up the motor. I did add a fan on the engine to keep it running cooler. I'm not sure what are good receivers and remotes. I've never had to replace one. I just think it's a little dangerous to be losing signal with a truck this fast.

Yes, in EU, any Traxxas cars are way too expensive. Arrma and others brands are more close to US prices.

So it isn't a problem on my country putting huge tarif on US brands, any other brands have price more close to US price, but not Traxxas.

@@verbs123 keep in mind this happened twice. I picked up all the telemetry stuff for the Xmaxx and loaded the app on my phone for it. Now every time I did updates I had issues. But it bricked the radio system twice, first time I paid out of pocket and then it happened to the system a second time. So I called Traxxas, they admitted they had major issues with it. So they tell me to send them in and they'll see if they can re-flash the system. However because I'm in Canada, I'm paying for everything ie. Insured shipping etc. So that's why I paid the first time. Now I have a completely gutted truck with a bunch of Hot racing upgrades sitting for almost two years. Traxxas electronics are complete garbage. I've been trying to save up just to get a different radio and speed controller. They admitted the problem and shafted me because I'm in Canada. I have 20-25 year old Team Associated MGT and RC10GT that run better and far more durable than the Traxxas stuff I have. My son has an Emaxx and I have a TRX4 . The girlfriend was the smartest one and bought an Arrma Nero (it's a beast!). Sorry for the long rant. I've never had this issue with any RC ever in the 30 years I've been doing this.

@@charlesb7831 Ah yes, I have their older 3.3 Nitro 4WD Traxxas t-maxxes, no app just transmitter and receiver much better. Just recently got another 3.3 2WD super fun no problems at all, Nitro is the way to go imo. That app stuff is garbage.

@@verbs123 problem is if you want to use all the sub-trims and stuff on the radio you almost need that crap, that's how Traxxas get you. It's built in obsolescence and failure. My old KO radio still runs tops, a battery hog but works great. Even the stock Team Associated radios never had issues or my old Futaba . So I'm stuck with a paper weight of an Xmaxx. Honestly after all this bullshit with it, I'd rather sell it. Nothing but problems with that truck. Fires, failing electronics.It breaks something everytime it goes out and I don't even do jumps or any crazy stuff with it.

Personally i just see it as an emergency feature, if you have to get the truck upright and its far away, like if you are driving on a empty road and suddenly a car appears. It's not good for the gears to use it..

I have the X-MAXX SNAP ON TOOLS EDITION truck but I never drive it hard. Just drive it in parking lots, walking to the coffee shop , I like doing that because its so big people stop and trip out so say hey one comes to my job selling tools or use it as a land drone with gopro on top. I might just get this MAXX truck to get crazy with. I could get a regular body for my X-MAXX but I like it clean. Oh yeah I put the PROLINE TRENCHERS 1/5 SCALE WHEELS on it. Its looks real crazy with with them .

The Traxxas must have good value too if you consider how much adding an avc radio system and big aluminum shocks to the Arrma will cost. That's not even counting all the other upgrades and features the Maxx has that the Arrma does not.

Maxx is way better than e-revo if you're a hard basher but e-revo might be a bit faster but it's heavier. I'd go Maxx myself...

Crazy wheel mounting solution, it can use all these 17mm hex tires, like a regular 17mm hex and nut combo would, but with a fiddely fancy coloured washer 🙀 And we weakened it to be a 5mm axle 💪🏻

Nice truck but overpriced. People keep asking other than arrma, what else can you get for this same price. For cheaper you can get either of the dhk monster trucks. The zombie at 299 and depending where you get it from 3s battery included. 4s capable system, aluminum shocks, metal drivetrain except for the spur but cheap to get metal. Parts available in the u.s. in my experience other than the body an f'n tough rig. Maximus is the same just bigger and more expensive at 350. For a little more the serpent cobra truggy is a beast. 6s capable system metal everywhere. In my opinion having both radios the serpent is better 10 car memory and digital. Only real downfall is part support but again personally after bashing the crap out of it it only busted a battery strap. All this at 560. I personally hate the tqi radios very imprecise and if you look at the stats it is very much a beginner radio. Also not a fan of avc or whatever it hinders me more than helps. For these reasons comparing it even to non arrma cars in my opinion it is found wanting. Durability no one quite knows just yet that's still to be determined but this so far looks above average from the few videos up. Sorry for the long post just my 2 cents

When I worked in a hobby store I believed Traxxis made their models less durable to sell parts because they wouldn't let after markets make parts. They flooded all types of hobby media with advertising to get popularity, and it worked for beginners and ones planning to start the hobby and also more expensive than the competitors in their class. I had the MPI Savage because they were rugged and after market parts. Traxxis tried to look rugged; and they more show than go!!

What caused the squeak in the rear suspension? Bent shock shaft? I noticed the discharge plug from the ESC also has the balance taps built in. That's going to make it hard to use existing third party batteries. It's no longer a matter of just cutting off the Traxxas plug and fitting an EC5, XT60, XT90. They are pushing SO hard to make everything proprietary it is starting to be unattractive to the long-time RC drivers who don't want to be locked into Traxxas. The Traxxas "Hi Current" plug is not as high current as the better aftermarket plugs. I bet it even got pretty warm in some of your running here, compared to what an XT90 would have seen.

No Problem with the Granite either. My Son is misusing bis Granite for almost a year now and I just replaced the first part now - the bodyshell :-). Granite is a beast and over here in Europe you can get 2 Granites for the Price of one Maxx. Simple Calculation...

don't use the self write button or your maxx will eventually break the reason is that their is no break in between forward and revers you might blow a diff or strip you spur or pinion gear you van do it manual y by hitting the trigger forward and then reverse because there is a break in-between the when the motor goes forward then reverse

I always wanted a nice RC but never had a convenient place to run one. Now I have 2 acres out back with some woods, trails and a creek. I started looking into the Stampede and was entertaining the Xmaxx (Though the price stopped me from pulling the trigger) now with the Maxx it looks like a great balance. With an open area of over an acre and the added woods with trails, creek with a rock & sand bed what would you suggest?

The X-Maxx needs a lot of open space to grave, where the Maxx can do more with less. The Maxx is easy to carry because it's lightweight, easier to transport and easier to store. But, the large size of the X-Maxx is pretty incredible. Another factor is the X-Maxx requires two batteries, Maxx only one. So the X-Maxx will need a charger capable of charging two batteries at once unless you're ok with the long wait times of charging one battery at a time. Either way, both trucks are fantastic. Personally, I would turn to the Maxx more often for regular use, and turn to the X-Maxx for special occasion. -Brett

@@AMain_Hobbies portability wouldn't be so much of an issue as I could simply walk out my back door while has about 300' until you get to the woods. Its about 1.5 acres of grass 200' x 300" +. Storage is a factor with anything, but I think I've got that covered too. Do you know if the run time of the Xmaxx w/ 2 batteries vs. The Maxx with just 1? Currently I have a small buggy that holds a small battery and has a run time of 15- 20 mins if I go all out and 20-30 mins when dialed back. It's not water proof so I keep it away from the Creek. Though it's fun on the rocks and sand around it.

Shoot, no, but I imagine they're pretty comparable, given equal circumstances. It just depends on the capacity of the batteries and how hard you drive the vehicles. -Brett

for a truck that cost over $500 there's just too many plastic parts I guess they're looking for you to spend the extra money on upgrades but that's not right it should come with the aluminum or metal parts also when trucks says ready to run it should be ready to run include the batteries and charger

Hey great video.. Tossing around the idea of a Rustler 4x4 VXL, the Maxx, and the Revo-2.0 ... obviously different trucks and a up-scaling amount of money. Just wondering, if you could maybe "throw together" a comparison video. Why you would get what truck, and what the extra money gets you.

Hey MrLincoln. They are all great trucks, but it kind of boils down to 3S, 4S or 6S power. And to go alone with the extra power, a proportionate increase in size and weight. All trucks feature TSM and self-righting and they all feature their unique look and styling. The Rustler 4X4 and E-Revo 2.0 feature a lower center of gravity chassis, making them ideal for high speed performance, corning and straight line speed, although they will wheelie if the conditions/traction are right. The Maxx features a high center of gravity chassis for the monster truck look, but adds additional body roll and effortless wheelies in almost all conditions, which can hamper your ability to lay down serious straight line speed. It's all a give and take, depending on what you want out of the vehicle, and how you want it to look. Hope this helps, but shoot over any other questions you have on them. -Brett

Not really, sand it harmful to everything. R/C cars can do it though and sand paddle tires exist too, it's just important to clean out that sand after use. -Brett
