Metal drive shafts are a must for the Maxx V2, that self righting broke my plastic drive shafts every time
@paulclancy24042 жыл бұрын
I owned Maxx for while it has self righting didn't even know , I did it myself and ripped tire second day never did it again , it's ridiculous hard on drive train definitely doesn't need metal drivesgafts you only break something else. I use mine on 6s with slightly smaller tires and no play in shafts I had it since came out atleast 100 packs
@XWXW-lk4jf2 ай бұрын
I'VE had problems with that back right tire as well. The driveshaft was getting eaten away and the pin kept popping out. Ended up having to not only replace the driveshafts, but also all of the rear bearings as well. Over time, the plastic starts to degrade rapidly causing all kinds of issues.

I am looking at the MT 2 Plus, due to the shell being more to scale and the length being 70 mm longer. If I am not jumping, which I wont, will the 2 Plus be a better alternative just for park runs? I get what has been updated, I just am not into sending things. I just want something to soak up bumps and really not interested in lifting the wheels. Both are the same $ here in Australian, but more importantly, we get these trucks for cheaper than what you pay in the US. Traxxas we pay almost double, Arrma isn't as bad but the durability of the MT 2Plus/MTX seems much better value imo.
@rcguygarage Жыл бұрын
The thing is almost every issue that the MT +2 had was addressed with the MTX those issues were in a sense very minor for me and I have really bashed very hard the MT+2 but these are also what I call drivers RCs because you need to drive them not just run them
@DankePlace Жыл бұрын
@@rcguygarage Yeah and I get what you mean by "drive", I had a Rovan 1/5 2 wheel drive Baja, you needed to know the car and how it handled. I think I will go the MT2+ as they're the same $, I just think the extra 70 mm and better shell is what I want. Also is it possible to get the battery case dimensions for the MT2+? I checked your other vid but you only measured the lipos, not the case. I am looking at running 2 8000 mAH L 138mm W 47 mm H 36 mm hardcase Zeees 3S. I also watched the Traxxas vs MT2+ and was fun to see someone dish it out on the Traxxas. Where I live the Traxxas is 2.1K AUD. The MT2+ is $980 AUD, it's actually cheaper to buy here than in the US but the Xmaxx is almost $700 AUD more. Subbed n T.I.A
@rcguygarage Жыл бұрын
@@DankePlace All right this is kind of a big question or answer pack depth and that's only because of the way I run my battery trays My battery trays run so the solid side is facing out that way I have maximum protection My pack depth can only be an inch and a quarter and yes this is imperial measurement and not metric 6 in long 2 in wide absolute maximum you'll be able to convert that and I would just go negative on millimeters from that. You realistically only need to run two battery straps save the other two because you may need them eventually as they tear. Other than that you will be buying a great truck keep in mind though that body shell while you may be going for looks and scale If you would just going to pleasure drive it that's fine but if you do decide to push that the bed portion will become separated from the cab portion but that body is really nice.
@DankePlace Жыл бұрын
@@rcguygarage appreciate your response. I'll do the math on my end, I rang the distributor today and they could not answer any q's, even the retailers could not, hence why I have reached out to you. I have seen how hard you have bashed this, I am extremely confident I will not be doing anything like this so want the biggest truck I can get without compromise of durability. Yes the MTX is better but the MT2+ is already much better than my other options I was looking at. I almost got a TC Dementor, it is going against the grain of why I want a truck in the 1st place, I do not want to do stunts, that is ofc a swb and the MTX does have 70mm shorter on the length. The Dementor was super cheap 2nd hand, but again I was looking passed the reason I was getting it, it was because it was cheap, not what I was actually looking for. A new Dementor is almost the same asking as the MT2+ here, they are really much different in build quality imo. Again thx for your time, much appreciated. Oh fwiw, I actually saw the size of the tires, someone put them up against a Pro line I think, and the size is seriously massive. When the MT2+ went up against a XMaxx for sizing, it still held it's place pretty well imo.

One of the guys I run with sometimes had a Maxx V1, he kept breaking the axles on it. Then when the V2 came out he got that, ran it a few times then just kinda stopped running it. At the time I only had a big rock and Typhon 3s. So he had better clearance over terrain, but I could catch him on flat semi smooth terrain. The Maxx can take a good bashing for sure. The axles seemed to be the only weak point. I've never owned one. Just saying from an outside perspective they are a really fun durable truck that has it's weak points like any other rc.

You know I wish the Maxx was a little more stable at high speeds. I was running a lot of the vehicles the other day and the Kraton 6s EXB to me is just so much more stable. I had zero fear of smashing into a curb because the thing just tracks so well. And I have made a lot of adjustments with the TSM, but it comes up short in comparison. Really good truck though.

I agree definitely not a fair comparison when one is a 1/8 6s and the other is a 1/10 4s. Plus when it comes to cost I don’t think I’d choose either of them if a had a $750 budget 😂

Yeah i Agree with you, traxxas knows how to give you enough to make u pull out the wallet then give you enough fun that you will also fork out additional money to fix what you'll notice there's always upgraded parts available for what you break on that newly released traxxas product but once you look at what all you eventually upgrade you basically changed almost every part on the dam thing and cost ends up passing the cost of a 6s ready platform such as habao hyper mtx or whatever other 1/8 scale rtr you want to compare, know to be fair usually when something on a traxxas vehicle breaks its due to driver error or doing something ridiculous like sending it 30ft in the air doing backflips, so it's understandable when something breaks, but to be driving it like you was and have a wheel fall off or break !!! Smh shame on Traxxas for allowing this to happen from just driving it across off road terrain which i would think is what its suppose to do 🤔
