Hi could you advise me on what the part number is for a new diff gear?
@ChrisP-cb8yr3 жыл бұрын
I had the Maxx and sold it, great little truck, like a crazy little honey badger, but the chassis slap annoyed me. My E-Maxx is far better for my driving style, makes me happier. Really depends on what you like to do, if it's all out Kevin Talbot insanity you want, go for the Maxx, if you want to drive more of a scale model monster truck and operate somewhere near the realm of what a scale truck that size should reasonably be expected to do, the E-Maxx will be much more pleasant.
@meteora8888 Жыл бұрын
How's the emaxx more pleasant to drive when not bashing? Not sure what you mean.
@jpslayer20164 жыл бұрын
The maxx can take a beating for sure. The EMaxx is a great truck and I'm going to keep running my EMaxx as long as I can. I have the old 2 speed EMaxx and run it on 4s.
@FastRCNet4 жыл бұрын
That was a great truck and the 2 speed transmission is some extra fun.
@hexdriver4 жыл бұрын
Good comparison video. I'm sorry to see they discontinued the E-Maxx. Mine has served me well over the last 8 years. I know it's an older design that originally had brushed motors and they put a powerful brushless system in it but it held up well on 4s. I'm sure the new Maxx is a lot more durable. I'm not really a fan of center differentials in monster trucks though. I think I would have preferred a redesigned E-Maxx (like they did with the E-Revo) that I could upgrade my truck to instead of a new, smaller X-Maxx design. It probably made more sense from a manufacturing standpoint to do it this way though.
@FastRCNet4 жыл бұрын
i think i know what you mean and i would have been great if they released an e-maxx v2. the maxx is an awesome truck. something new. a big 1/10th scale monster. durable and good handling. now traxxas needs a 1/8th scale monster truck again (e-revo is a monster truggy). hope the e-maxx 2.0 is comming soon ;)
@joeazzizzo7254 жыл бұрын
hexdriver I believe the E Revo 2.0 has a center diff correct me if I’m wrong LOL....... Isnt it a center diff beneficial on a monster truck to distribute the power what are your thoughts?
@FastRCNet4 жыл бұрын
@@joeazzizzo725 yeah. the ERevo 2.0 has a center diff. the good thing with the center diff is you can set up the power distribution front/rear. it also lets you do much tighter cornering. i really like center diffs for racing. for bashing it's ok but not necessary i think. it's more maintenance ... ;)
@hexdriver4 жыл бұрын
@@joeazzizzo725 - It depends on your driving style. In the past center differentials have largely been in race vehicles like buggies. A center diff will allow you to maintain some throttle while in the air without the nose coming up. It will also all you to accelerate hard out of turns without popping wheelies or spinning out. Some of us want to do wheelies, back flips and burnouts. You can still do these with a center diff but it changes the feel of the truck. It makes sense for the E-Revo to have one since it is designed for some racing and is more of a truggy than a true monster truck. In my opinion anyway. Also, like Fast RC mentioned, they are more maintenance. Especially since some manufacturers seem to think that if you have a center differential you don't need a slipper clutch. That is not the case..

I just converted my E-Maxx to 2s Lipo and waterproofed everything. I also had to replace the old Novak the 3906 that came with it back in 2002 So after like 60 or so times of taking it out the 550 motors are still humming away and the 2s lipo woke the truck up. It pops wheelies and jumps like nobodies business. To me its now classic and legendary and it shines where you need it too. Now my son wants to start converting his Slash to a big tire offroader to bash as good as the E-maxx. In my eyes the E-maxx is still the King of its domain everything the handling the quality its all there. Think about it Almost 15 years of owning it.
@FastRCNet4 жыл бұрын
yeah. that's it. the handling of the e-maxx is outstanding!
@ValleyRC4 жыл бұрын
No doubt the Maxx is tougher and benefits from design aspects learned in the meantime but you have to love the old E-Maxx, it's a classic. Won't take a pounding to the same degree as a maxx but in it's own right it's still a pretty tough and capable truck. Newer Traxxas and Arrma models have left it looking comparatively fragile but when the 2nd gen first came out in 2007 it was an impressive step up in durability over the MK1 e-maxx. The clutch, idler gears, diffs and driveshafts on the mk1 often failed with just the brushed titan motors. The 2nd gen could handle anything up to 6s brushless with moderate use. Durability keeps improving all the time but for 2007 it was an impressive platform that was obviously intended to be BL ready down the line as we eventually got the brushless edition. Not as good for doing huge jumps in skate parts etc but as a general basher it's still good. Great fun bashing around on dirt/sand/grass etc. You can still do big jumps etc with it, it's just a bit less forgiving of bad landings. It was a shame to see it go but the Maxx is the pretty much the new version. They just dropped the "E" because electric is the most common power source these days so there's no need to point out that it's electric. In fact, the E-maxx is now listed on the traxxas site under "older versions" and not "discontinued models" if there was every any doubt that the Maxx is the replacement for the E-maxx.

The only thing that i wish i had on my E-Maxx is the stronger Differential from the Maxx, because they put larger Ball Bearings in it and doubled the gears in the Differential. I'm running on 6s all the time and had to change the Bearings once a year due to them wearing out or breaking.

I run 6s on my E-Maxx as well. Tons of fun. The motor and ESC handle it quite well, but I blow diffs very easily in slippery conditions. One nice thing about the Maxx/X-Maxx is the updated diff design that makes it very easy to service. On the E-Maxx, you need to disassemble the entire front or rear just to open the diff case. :/

I have a maxx v2 that I bought new a few months ago and It's a great truck, durable too. About two weeks ago I walked into my local hobby shop and he had purchased a guy's entire collection of cars and in the lot was an e-maxx just like the one in this video.I had to have it. It's missing the original body and has the upgraded drive shafts from traxxas, rpm upper and lower a arms and a few other extras. The E-maxx is a much more powerful car than the Maxx but isn't as durable and doesn't handle as well.

I know the wheelbase is about the same but without the wide Maxx kit I think the Emaxx is about 2” wider if I’m not mistaken. Also the Emaxx tires are significantly taller. @gasolinediesel9723 жыл бұрын
The E-maxx is a 1/8 scale 6s truck. The maxx is a 1/10 scale 4s truck. Both batteries on the E-maxx will die at the same time. If not, then no, one battery will not continue to power the truck. Both do wheelies. The brushless E-maxx only has one motor. It would be nice if you used proper punctuation. It would make answering your questions much easier. They don't even make the E-maxx anymore anyways so just get a maxx.
