The reason your tires are wearing is because you have them on backwards,,,they are directional tires,,,see the sidewalls there should be an arrow showing the direction they should be mounted (rolling)

Had the same problems with my Slash right out of the box. I’m not as familiar with nitros as you are but I couldn’t even get it started for weeks. After reading through forums, I found out the head was loose which was why it wouldn’t fire. Also had the same issue with the throttle being stuck open when braking and the steering servo issue which Traxxas said was the TSM and I should reduce it to zero.

Yep, nitro slashes do suck out of the box. Though today I still believe it’s the best rtr new nitro for any beginner as easy start is pretty reliable. Now with a year of experience I’m starting to think a bare bones old school nitro is best as the easy starts are an extra component to worry about. Recently I fixed the wiring on the nitro slash as it had shorted out making the easy start not work. Also the heat shrink on the glow plug wire always strips away which I have to constantly replace with new layer which is annoying. My last complaint is the carburetors as the composite material either cracks or the thread for needle or banjo bolt strips easily which cause air leaks and to make engine run awful.

Dent’s come from glow plug pieces. As long as the cylinder walls are good. There is no worries.

What % fuel youre running? Those dents in the piston are caused by detonation because of high percentage nitro. You can add some shims under the head to mitigate that

20% Nitro 12% Oil. I’m surprised because I wanted low percent so the car wouldn’t have too much combustion. Thanks for info I’ll tear it apart soon and see how much worse it has gotten.

@@haywirercmight be the high oil content I only run 25% 11% oil and sometimes 20% 9% oil your higher oil content to nitro content might be causing that also make sure you have the proper glow plug temp if not get a new plug

I have to fine tune every day but for this carburetor I have high speed needle at 4 turns from bottom and the idle screw I try to set so that idle is as low as possible without stalling.
