They should've put the 540xl in this truck. The standard Velineon motor was already stressed with the regular slash.

yeah to bad the 540 motor has a different shaft thickness 0.12 onches so 3mm the 540 is 0.20 inches so 5mm so it would need a redesigned gearing to reach the 60 miles also the car would be more expensive i guess traxxas left it to us to put the bigger motor in it... also the price probably was a factor 120 vs 89$ also the bigger motor needs larger esc which would put 140 dollar plus into the price.

@@maszkalman3676 people run the 540xl in the Rustler 4x4 and they have no problem reaching 60mph. It just drops in. The vxl3s esc from the hoss fits right in with no mods. This truck would accept the 540xl no problem.

@@maszkalman3676 it's just the Pinoin gear. Throw a 25 tooth Pinoin on there and that raptor will rip! Its literally just plug and play. As I've said they do it with the Rustler 4x4 vxl all the time.

Per traxxas, the stock gearing is only rated for 2s off road.

@@buysncharge there’s a reason most of us chuck the vxl. Hell, the esc isn’t even bad really. With a fan and the hoss motor it does fine. That’s what traxxas should’ve done here, hoss power plant + center diff

@dylanwhite6539 I mean the VXL is durable. But lacks throttle resolution and the connector sucks. Toss 4S in a 3500 vxl can. And the it's really peppy.

@@JayTeeRC it’s way too high. If the bottom ain’t flat with the diff cases like the xrt, erevo, rustler 4x4 etc then it’s too high. The only HCG truck that handles okay is the Xmaxx. Trucks like the slash 4x4 standard, hoss and stampede handle horribly. Not ideal for bashing unless you want to point and shoot only.

@@JayTeeRC granted this isn’t as bad as the slash HCG. 52mm Center GC vs 72mm slash. That’s more in the realm of MCG like the Xmaxx and Maxx, with the Maxx being at 49mm in the same scale basically.

naw...ur wrong on that. have owned all them and the reg. slash handles good and other ones do too. lcg is good too but they are all made for bashing and not reaching more then club level at best

Unless the body is going to be discontinued, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think your bigger concern would be losing the side mirrors.

Exactly. Even if it was just a hoss spec kit it’d be a bit more justifiable. And can’t argue that the XHD kit drove up costs because the BL-2S trucks come with it for $329
